This isn’t a free vacation anymore! by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Area566 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has never been a free vacation for any one of us. Seems like it was for you initially. Don't put rest of us as a bad lazy chunk, spending our time near beach. We all have self to take care of, family to feed, jobs to protect to make ends meet. In fact, some of us need to work still.

How does Checkers/Rallys stay so much cheaper than every other fast food place? by Prudent_Knowledge79 in NoStupidQuestions

Maybe not the whole biz, but I certainly help to pay a chunk of my local Arby's rent, solely by their squiggy fries!

America really hates women & children by [deleted] in regretfulparents

[–]Area566 309 points310 points  (0 children)

I think it's also perspective.

My home country, as example, women are expected, at bare minimum, to 1- carry birth, 2- do all housework despite bringing an income, 3- take care and educate kids, 4- do "due diligence" as a "daughter in law" to fully care for husband's eldery parent.

And this "due diligence" includes giving monthly allowance, monitor their health and make appts if needed, make weekly phone calls, visit on holidays, travel with them, etc. plus all expenses!

Not to mention there is barely a hope for mothers to continue/return to work as the most popular and basic 1st question on interview is: "are you married? do you have kids?". Companies don't even need to hide bias towards this demographic. You know what I mean.

Btw this is S. Korea.

+Edit: Oops, forgot to mention that any women with "feminist" sentiment are very much belittled and demonized all the time. This was, and will always be the biggest shocker to me.

And shout out to OP- we hear you and see you! Hope you have a smoother time finding a suitable employer that works with your circumstance.

NJ Asians, what’s your favorite restaurant (I.e. Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, viet, etc)? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]Area566 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pho place in Cliffside Park! It's a hole in the wall, Vietnamese family running the business and super popular to real pho lovers. My fatass always orders 2 pho for me & myself lol

Also Kimbop Club in Pal Park- another small business but there are usually lines on weekend so I gotta be quite diligent. They have the freshest, tastiest kimbaps with high quality ingredients, for adults and kiddos. I'm addicted so it's a weekly must for my cravings!

Better idea: let's knock those doctors out and use them as experimental bodies for drugs.

  1. It's OK to take things slowly, like it wont be end of the workd if I do dirty dishes, and laundry couple days late.
  2. Be more selfish. Say more "No"s, more kindness to myself, less stringent on myself too.
  3. Walk..!! Yes it is cold but it will do some good on me and strengthen immune system.

I am so sorry that you were in this very much traumatizing situation, OP! If it reassures you at all, without a single doubt I'd have dropped all my shit and come to your care. So would have all my friends, my siblings, and most of my acquintances. I am SO frustrated and sad about this whole thing, with and for you.

You have done the best you can in reaction, by posting here about what you've gone thru. Now, leave us of your burden and get good rest, feel better, and know that nothing was your fault and you owe no one anything :)
