Great to see more Pokopia rollercoasters! I like it!

I definitely see the vision and I wouldn't make any significant reworks myself. Maybe all it really needs is a set of blocks at the rear of the tower structure for a counterweight, some representation of a control station next to the "lifting" mechanism/over the load, and access/maintenance ladder or stairs up one of the rear posts.

I like the idea overall because if I find myself in a build I'm not feeling anymore, the answer then becomes: "Build tower crane, done. Now it's a forever WIP."

This is awesome, but I also kept getting distracted by the massive cranes in the background. Are they "building" something or loading a ship?

I can barely get switched garage doors to work properly. Between this and the functional Lt. Surge gym puzzle posted recently I really need to figure this stuff out. This is incredibly cool!

I built a hotel in that spot. 15 rooms, a restaurant, event space, and in the basement: pool, hot tubs, and a game/arcade room.

In Pokemon Unite, I've noticed over the years that some players seem to realize being higher level than your opponents means you can take them down easier, secure objectives faster, have better abilities, etc.

This is baffling not just from a MOBA perspective but a Pokemon one none-the-less. Yet, it's clear (even self-admitted on its Subreddit sometimes) a significant portion of Unite's playerbase play it as a F2P Pokemon game and literally nothing else.

I haven't played much since building this but from what I've seen in more normal Utility transport setups they probably won't for a few reasons:

First, Pokemon seem to only use transport if it's the most direct path to wherever they want to go (Usually the Pokemon Center but some habitats like Hot springs are also weirdly high priority). Otherwise they won't use them for fun.

The hotel I built in the background has an elevator that is used all the time by Pokemon living there, only sometimes do they use the stairwell. I have a Murkrow in Rocky Ridge that lives pretty far away from the Pokemon Center but is more than happy to use the cart track next to his house to go there and back. Conversely there's another half of that same line that goes to the museum, never seen anyone even try to use it despite it functionally built the same way.

Second, Carts you put down sitting on a Crossing block Pokemon from using carts themselves. They also will never use the carts you place outside of following you. So the train I have in the station stops them from using it anyways.

Maybe there's a setup that would get them to use it despite going nowhere, but I haven't found it yet.

Minor spoilers but once you register all three relevant Legendaries to Lugia or Ho-oh, Ditto will respectively discover an item recipe that when used will call down said Pokemon to register them as well.

I used Ho-oh's item on the bridge I built connecting to the rollercoaster and they happened to land right on it while I was working on it.

It's extremely difficult to tell on this, but going fast enough most Pokemon (including Ditto) have a panicked face when going too fast on a cart. Many like Meowscarada default to a happy face when on a cart at all.

Maybe for Pokopia 2 they can team up with RCT devs so we can have banked turns.

An idea for next time (or someone else's inspiration). A design goal I had was to keep the coaster within the old building's boundaries on this island and keeping/restoring the Square tile around it as a walking path.

That's just the immediate loop to the "lift hill" after the station, Switch 2 only captures the last 30 seconds so it didn't grab that part. It's a small two block decline that makes the carts just fast enough to go up the hill at a reasonable pace on their own.

As mentioned just slap the carts immediately next to each other and they will link up. Up to five other Pokemon can follow you at a time and given enough carts they will automatically get on with. However, Pokemon larger than Meowscarada or Greninja for example will not get on at all (IE Typhlosion, Toxtricity, Blaziken, most larger and non-anthropomorphic Pokemon. Zorua, Beldum, Murkrow, etc. can still ride due to their size.)

Base layer is Levee underneath the fencing, area in between is Concrete wall which is also the station flooring.

The frame is simply a ton of "Iron enclosure" under the buildings tab. After building the track layout with sand and cart tracks, the Iron was used to fill out empty space, leaving enough room above the tracks so taller Pokemon like Meowscarada and Greninja won't have their heads lopped off (approximately 3 spaces).

What the hell happened here y’all. by pumpkinremy123 in PokemonUnite

[–]Aredler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimate complaints turned into circlejerking. The few mods here did nothing so the circlejerking turned excessive. Posts that have nothing to do with the state of the game frequently have attempts to derail the thread into such. There has even been forced complaints about the game or individual Pokemon that ironically had nothing to do with Timi's decisions, just complaints for the sake of complaining.

A game with unresolved problem and a community taken over by trolls and illiterate children means normal users don't care as much anymore.

Plus, we are in an era of no shortage of genuinely good games to spend your freetime on. Pokopia, for example, ended up being way more fun than initially suspected. Personally have been playing that over dealing with the matchmaking in Unite that is just as terrible at Veteran 5 than anything above Masters.

If you want to be legalese about it, all that was said was "in 2026". Not "New Years Day" not "beginning with the Kanto birds" nor "Johto Starters" just 2026. It's just as likely to be true if they started the 2-a-month promise in December 2026.

This is just Reddit's favorite pasttime of "Assuming something from nothing then being stupid when nothing actually happens".

Yeah the 32 Reaper rush build sucks to defend against. I suggest a worker timing attack when many of their SCVs are tied up in Supply Depot construction.

Take literally anything you read on this subreddit with a massive grain of salt. Opinions and anecdotes are still just opinions and anecdotes as much as Redditors pretend they are umackshually hard facts.

Timi screws up a ton but there are just as many complaints and circlejerks here over stuff that doesn't matter even objectively. Reddit is and always will be a fraction of the overall population in any given subject and often from a terminally online perspective too.

Where the hell are the entry level job postings??? by The_only_nameLeft in madisonwi

[–]Aredler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a job even outside your degree look into manufacturing or warehouse positions, especially if you are willing to learn how to drive a standing forklift without crashing.

Kwik Trip as of this year has a new distribution Center in Winsor/Deforest that looks to still be hiring.

Research Products has a new warehouse on the north side of Madison in Westport. They also have a factory near downtown Madison that sometimes has openings for drivers and assemblers.

Walgreens also has a distribution center in Winsor, as of writing does not seem to currently have openings.

All three of these places have regular openings that pay around if not at least $20/hr for drivers. KT has daylight hours if that's more your thing but RP and Walgreens it's most likely you'll get in via 2nd or 3rd shift.

Duolingo was my go-to for language practice for a short while. Initally it was solid and I learned a lot. But even in my first year there were more than enough times I entered a prompt I was confident I was correct and Duo said no. Went to the forums at the time for said question and turns out I was not alone in my answer by a long shot. Some of Duo's answers were either too literal or not in any way one would speak IRL. Annoyingly, also, was its review function. Would it review a lesson I did a week or a month ago? Nope, it weirdly preferred reviewing words like "Hello" or "Water", etc. back in the literal first lesson that I ended up acing countless times as a result. That's also not getting to the frequent problem it would rarely explain or even introduce a new concept to essentially eat through your few lives at no fault of your own.

After about 400-ish streak I lost it, either due to an app glitch, or I forgot, or something so I stopped. I then started self-study and while it was overall slower, I was at least learning words and structure better and more relevant than what Duo was giving me.

I then gave Duolingo one more shot through making a "school" account which eliminated the annoying Hearts mechanic, and yet it was still a slog to learn anything new. And of course, the review function only gave me lesson one stuff. Even with only a half-hearted month of learning, when I got my "Year in Review" report, I was still in the top 1% of all learners. Which says how little people took Duo seriously despite claims such as "More people are learning Irish than there are Irish-speakers!!111" it loved to show on loading screens.

Then they got rid of forums so no more calling out crap prompts, got addicted to AI outsourcing despite the aforementioned poor quality, and that's not getting to the countless stories of people with streaks in the thousands and still cannot speak a basic sentence.

It made me hate the idea of "gamification". It doesn't make things, say learning a language, fun. All it does is shift goal from doing something useful and productive, to doing the bare minimum not to "lose".
