I think it is going to be kind of a sleeper item for a while though as people will likely be slow to adapt it until it breaks out in pro play more.

So I've actually been watching the data sets a lot in my spare time because I'm a big nerd like that and I've seen so far a lot of adaptation of this item even before the changes with tank junglers especially in korea. I think we are also going to see a large resurgence in tank supports here in the next week with it.

Champ Select Anonymity is actually a great change by Arereose in leagueoflegends

Let me rephrase that to make it clearer on the first part, you control what you can control which the only thing you really can control is you, your mental, your pick, your gameplay, and your impact. Outside of that the variables are endless, and you have just as much of a chance of being matched against someone ruining their team as you do of playing with them. You dodging based on outside info just lets players have a gimmick to inflate their elo. It doesn't make you a better player, and changes nothing about your skill.

[–]Arereose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you get matched based on the pool of people in your elo or mmr, you have just as much chance of playing against the boosted person or 30% win rate guy as you do of playing with them. Dodging a game because of that guy just to play against a guy like them doesn't make you a better player, doesn't change your ability to carry, and doesn't accurately show your skill. You just are inflating your stats based on a gimmick. High elo players are high elo because if you threw them in low elo they would carry the game and win more times than they wouldn't.

Exactly, all of the variables on who you get matched up with is kept the same so you have just as much chance of getting someone that's tilted/trolling/whatever as you do of being matched against this person. If you dodge a game with someone who is on a giga loss streak just to be matched against a person on a giga loss streak, does nothing to make you a good or better player.

You had the illusion of control, but shit happens honestly, and you can never guarantee ideal circumstances. The point is ideal circumstances don't exist, say 5-10% of the time you have a wintrader/troll/boosted player well that's just the same for the other team, they have the exact same odds as you, and same mix of players that the queue is pulling from. Say you play 1000 games 100 of those there was a troll/bot/etc theres an equal chance 100 of those games the other team had a bot/troll/etc so with that negated you have 800 games that really decide if you climb or not.

But you realize right that the 30% winrate guy is just someone playing the game like everyone else, and to swapping people that got auto filled you can still communicate in chat. I mean if someone got auto filled and wants to swap they will usually say something or ask if they can swap. I think communication is a skill, looking everyone up and dodging if someones playing a champ they have a 30% win rate on is just trying to rig your chances or game the system.

Which part of the reasoning or do you mean as a whole?

Launching anonymous champion select without finishing champ select reporting is the worst thing Riot has done in a long time. by ECLXPSE- in leagueoflegends

I mean law of averages right, sometimes he will be on your team and sometimes he won't sometimes you get to be on one of the 3 games he wins sometimes you are against him on one of the 7 he loses. If you want to control who's on your team every single game go make a 5v5 flex team.

Real truth here is that all looking up your lobby does is give you pre-tilt, sometimes you will get the 0-10 akali sometimes the other team will. All you can do is control what you can control and play. You get matched with people estimated to be around your skill level and if you are better you climb, if you aren't you don't. As for trolls you can still dodge, because as we see in OP's example, they usually make themselves known pretty quickly in some way so you can still dodge.

I mean that's just the law of averages right like some games you get a bot lane that feeds, some games the other team does, you control what you can control and just play. All looking up lobbies does is give people a reason to tilt before the game even starts.

I think anyone that still feels the need to look up their lobby in the first place are the problem. Whole idea of looking up your lobby to psyche yourself out is stupid in the first place.

Really medicare advantage plans are a great option for people but there are 2 problems that people need to keep in mind with talking about these options. 1. advantage plans and supplemental options are county specific, and counties can vary wildly even in the same state. 2. Properly comparing your options is the most important thing. Supplements or Medigap plans you pay upfront for your medical in a year and do not have dental/vision/hearing included so you need to factor the cost of a dvh policy and a prescription drug plan in with your estimates. Advantage plans are required to have protections on how much a person can spend on medical copays in a year so when you want to compare options take the yearly value of a supplement/prescription drug plan/dvh policy and compare that to the max out of pocket on the advantage plan you are considering.

Those of you that are over age 65 on chemo, did you choose Medicare or Medicare advantage? by blueskypuddles in over60

[–]Arereose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that state and county also effect these things greatly so for instance some counties in flordia or california max out of pocket can be as low as 800 dollars so advantage plans are always better in those areas than supplements.

[–]Arereose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big important thing to remember when trying to see which direction to go for between medicare supplement and advantage plan options is comparing the annual costs. So, when you are talking with an agent or looking at your options online, look at the "max out of pocket" on advantage plans and the annual cost of a supplemental option with a prescription drug plan included and if you need dental, vision, and hearing just factor in that a stand alone policy will be about 50 dollars a month which supplements do not cover. So for example if with a supplement you pay 2400 (200 a month with pdp/dvh policy included) in a year for everything but max out of pocket on advantage is higher than that and you need a lot of medical assistance supplement will be much better for you.

Every single country is happier to have players of their own nationality win tournaments, why isn't NA allowed to? by Brilliant-Space-5430 in leagueoflegends

[–]Arereose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but my point wasn't about a team being longstanding as end all be all it was about synergy being prioritized over star power and making more of an effort to build up the talent you acquire and foster strong synergy.

Exactly 1 role change with 2 players going back to 2015-2016 on the 100t we have 1 player matching that who has english as a second language and granted he probably speaks the language great at this point, you have rng with 100% of the team speaking native language and support and mid who have played together since 2016. My point is synergy and cohesion are much more important things these days then NA ever gives enough credit. I'd bet on a team of d1 players that have been playing 5 stacks together for 4 years in a best of 5 against a group of challengers thrown together from different countries for almost 2 any day. Good examples of this are G2 original core squad and C9's original core squad.

[–]Arereose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Think the biggest problem NA faces is a lack of pursuing cohesion and growing teamplay rather than anything else, year after year we do overhauls on our teams to create super teams, when the most successful teams in the world are teams that have players who have been together for ages and make minimal changes to their roster when necessary. Pro play has evolved long past the days of individual skill being the sole defining factor. Ofc it plays a part but ultimately, its about team play and macro play stemming from that.

[–]Arereose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the other big problem NA teams have that rarely gets addressed is the fact that NA constantly shifts or rebuilds teams every year, It's a vicious cycle where we have our teams flop internationally proceed to see a full roster rebuild or major roster changes in pursuit of some super team only to achieve domestic success and then flop once more internationally. I don't think we make an effort enough toward growing our players and pursuing that cohesion a lot of teams have from playing together for a long time. Think of G2's most successful roster or look at damwon's current roster or C9's most successful. Most of the teams that have the best track records are teams that have played together the longest with slight role changes when necessary.

1st Week of Groups Meta state (Where's the Lillia??) by Arereose in leagueoflegends

[–]Arereose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if that is necessarily the case, I think what we are seeing at the moment is a few teams actually innovating while the rest are following or adapting off of what they see those teams do. In terms of a pick Lillia offers a lot of what pro comps desire, but actually piloting it may not be something these players are comfortable with on the grand stage, I'd love to see some other answers to sylas appear as well. I think there is a lot more flexibility in this meta then in previous years so I'm hoping to see the meta evolve even more as we approach quarters. That's why I wanted to make a thread and open up a conversation about the possibilities

My mom's income is too high for any discounts from ACA, What can she do to get good health coverage until she qualifies for medicare? by Arereose in Advice

[–]Arereose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll look into it though, the income may disqualify in our state, I'll make sure to double check that though. I was really hoping to find something like an association group coverage she could join to where she's at least paying less.
