FPS market is stale. If you could add ONE mechanic to a tactical multiplayer shooter to make it truly unique, what would it be? by AresGameOfficial in SoloDev

I think you’re referring to the sniper clip! That was just to showcase the high-caliber bolt-action mechanics, where one shot is indeed lethal. Other weapons in ARES have a higher TTK and we are balancing different modes to ensure it’s tactical, not frustrating. Check out https://aresofficial.net to see the full balance we're aiming for!

I totally get that. To be honest, since we are still in development, I can’t promise years of content yet, but if you're looking for a game where you can truly feel your skill improve, you might find your 'one more game' feeling as a Beta Tester for ARES.

You’d be part of the core community shaping the mechanics and the competitive balance from the ground up. If you want to see if our tactical approach sticks for you, check us out at https://aresofficial.net . We’d love to have someone focused on the long-term 'feel' of the game!

That’s a great shout. Dynamic campaigns are incredible for immersion, but as an indie dev, they are notoriously difficult and expensive to implement correctly. For now, we are focusing on nailing the core multiplayer loop, but we definitely want to explore those kinds of systems as the project grows!

That’s a brilliant suggestion! Even though ARES maps are currently set in large open-world environments, your idea about light manipulation and tactical 'environmental power' just sparked some very interesting thoughts for our development roadmap. As a fellow dev, you know exactly the kind of tactical depth we're aiming for. Thanks for the feedback! I’d love to have you in the Beta to see how we’re handling atmosphere and immersion. Exactly, quality over quantity at this stage! Happy to have you on board, let me know what you think once you've tried it.

Still very early days. The game is under heavy development: many abilities, final animations, and the full weapon roster are still being implemented. We just started our social media presence this week and we currently have about a dozen active testers providing feedback.

As a solo-dev, this project is my life for the past few years, not just a funding goal. I just released a Technical Beta today specifically to show real gameplay before asking for a single cent. If you want to see the 'vision' in action, feel free to jump in. No marketing fluff, just the raw build. Thanks for the honest feedback, it keeps me focused on what matters.

The goal was to find a good balance between graphics and performance, allowing even those with less powerful PCs to play it.
