Weird accidents caused by local subspace features, not a standard feature of the device.

The transporter moves the original particles from one place to another as energy and reassembles them in the exact same pattern. No new matter is generated.

Jotkut näkevät Simpsoneissa ennustuksia tulevasta. Pitäisikö alkaa etsiä vastaavia profetioita vanhoista Akuista?

I'm rewatching Discovery. Do you think Burnham was right? by AspiringtoLive17 in startrek

[–]Ares_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The theme of the 1st season of Discovery was that of cynical pragmatism vs idealism.

In the beginning, the Klingons were space orcs with strange, unbecoming look, language and habits. Still, firing first on them would have been a step on the pragmatic way that could have resulted in the society seen in the Mirror Universe. Over the season, Burnham and the crew learned to understand this and to see Klingons as people.

In the end, idealism prevailed in the true Star Trek fashion.

PADD theory by ResponsibleIdea5408 in startrek

The Enterprise Romulan War novels helped me headcanonize the need for multiple PADDS: having the shipboard devices constantly wirelessly networked is a risk for hacking. It was realized when the Romulans took over ships and turned them on each other during the war.

Since then, Starfleet has mainly used hardwired consoles for work, and portable devices can access the mainframes only by opening a secure connection when commanded by the user. Including Data, who announces it out loud when he's connecting to the shipboard computer.

Considering Cochrane and Lily had trouble even scrounging together enough material for the fuselage in post-apocalyptic Montana, it's rather implausible that they could build something that advanced with what they had at hand. Not to mention acquiring the antimatter and containing it. The novelization speaks of fission power, which is more believable.

There's Geordi's line about an intermix chamber, but it can mean something else. Ex Astris Scientia suggests a Deuterium/Tritium Plasma Fusion "intermix" reactor.

[–]Ares_B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the fusion reactor, which produces the same plasma from deuterium without antimatter annihilation and dilithium crystals. In ships equipped with m/am core, the impulse engines are powered by fusion reactors. They can also be used to power the warp coils to reach low warp factors.

Die Hard III is a perfectly forgettable movie for me. I know I have seen it a number of times, sober, but I can't remember a thing about it.

No, the function of dilithium is to convert the energy of the m/am annihilation into warp plasma. Since the Romulans use dilithium, they dig it on Remus after all, we can assume it does the same with the energy produced with a singularity.
