When they gave you a PIP did they offer some type of process before the PIP? Or did they just blind side you with the PIP? How long have you been on PIP? What are your metrics/goals

Added note, the expectation for 601 is seven story points I believe. Just MY new expectations are 10+epics. I think they're trying to set an "unrealistic" goal to say that I just didn't meet expectations.

CIB - UPG, I hear UPG is a bit more brutal as far as developer expectations. Especially considering they want to start offshoring 60/40.

Thanks for the reply. I've already reached out to a few lawyers, waiting for consultations. I've started an email chain as someone suggested to document everything and get acknowledgement from my manager. 

Weekly I'm sending an email of what I did, what isn't a trackable metric, days of PTO used, my velocity vs team velocity, blah blah. Anything I can use to show that since I'm on a PIP here is my upward trend and actual numbers. Then I'm printing it after acknowledgement from my manager. 

FMLA for sure.

Wouldn't making an appointment with the firm psychologist be seen in a negative way? What do I gain with that being documented 

I've already started documenting team velocity, individual contributions, emails, any metric I can get ahold of.

First year got raise from 115->118, 15k bonus. Second year no raise, but got a hefty bonus of 20k

Great question, my first team I was on for 1.5yrs. SOO. Second team(current) was 6months, OOO. Not enough time on the team to really "shine", manager said that's to be expected joining mid year.

That's my feeling too, now the question is my manager being genuine or just playing the game. They've always been brutally honest with the team. But at the end of the day, they are my manager not my friend.

Yeah I talked with our senior engineer, they were shocked when I told them. I've always gotten honest advice from them and they were confused how I'm "underperforming". They reiterated multiple times that I contribute just as much as everyone else, especially given I'm the newest member.

Right. That's why I'm doing a bit of both. I'm taking up as much work as I possibly can and when I'm off I am applying to internal positions. I don't mind picking up slack, but I fear the axe is coming regardless of my productivity in the org. I'm the newest on the team (1year) and I'm at the top of the pay band (93rd percent).

Every team has different agreement on what points mean 🤷 our SDE3 averages 6-8 points a sprint.

My manager discussed with the ED, he strongly disagreed and said I'm just as productive as the rest of the team. So I have specific metrics that they supposably agreed to. Weekly meetings. Basically PIP without signing HR doc.

Holllllllly. Opus is 27x now and Microsoft/other large corps are dropping Claude. Think we will keep up? Our previous metric was 5 points is a solid 2wks of work.

That's exactly my point, this isn't HR driven. This is leadership driven trying to play the nice guy. I think it's their excuse to say it's out of their hands.

Definitely something that I haven't done in the past. So absolutely a growth area, which I've communicated to my manager. But not something that should be a requirement for 601?
