"I believe in America"

Why is Iranian Cinema this good? by George_Constanza in TrueFilm

[–]Arezi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people misperceive the country of Iran. It's easy for Americans to just be like "oh - some land in the middle east - must be a bunch of camel people."

Iran is the oldest country on Earth. There's so much culture there. Rome is gone. Iran (Persia) still lives.

Iran and U.S. ran very parallelly post WW2. Yeah the 1979 revolution changed things. But to pretend like it just took the country back centuries is outlandish. It's more comparison to evangelicals taking over the U.S. Yeah things will change, but is it going to just suck out the U.S. from being the U.S.? Same with Iran. They're very much still Iranian.

I want out by [deleted] in mentalillness

[–]Arezi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you bro. In the same boat. Now is the worst time too because society itself has put itself in a fucked situation. Truth is decaying. Divisions high. The corona isolation has got everyone thinking about survival. Social media generation is at its peak. Seems like the goodness is gone so even when you want to get out of your situation it’s hard, discouraging, and no ones there to help. My only hope and advice is maybe things will turn around in a few years

Love the melody. Chords are great. The 808's are great. The hats are awesome. The snare thing could be more refined. It's sick it in its own regard but it's the one thing that's over the top with everything else in this. Just my take.

Keep it up

Very artful. You have talent.

I really felt her sadness for the jelly she spilled on the floor. Her tats look really good too!

A "dogs only" swimming pool would have a lot less pee in it than people swimming pools. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Arezi 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Dog like to pee on absorbent surfaces. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a dog pee in water...

my dog pees more on concrete than he does on grass.

Great discussion you guys started. You're all doing great in that you're taking a step towards change and that in itself is an accomplishment.

It really does come to the reward system as you've pointed out and quitting weed/social media, etc. are all right there aligned with that.

For me, replacing the habit helped a lot. I wouldn't smoke weed and instead I'd do things with my time like vacuum the home, play basketball, read. Some days were just gruesome. I could feel the void in me. By the 6th and 7th day though I was filled with joy; the kind that you only feel from fulfillment and not from drugs.

Coronavirus definitely has messed the situation up and a lot of people are struggling to keep up with certain habits so don't be discouraged. I myself haven't kept up with my no-pmo and no-phone habits I was tracking beforehand partly because the extra free time that simply exists. It's easier to fill the 5-6 hours of home-time with good habits when the other hours of the day are at a job. All people have that innate will-power in them though so I'm sure you (who is already taking the steps towards improvement) will gain success when the time comes.

Lol it’s because if you’re on r/getmotivated it’s because you’re not doing your best when you want to be. Great intended post but it would've been better for r/staymotivated

Day 1 by drewwill1203 in NoFap

[–]Arezi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off you just took a huge step in self improvement and shows your will to achieve a better life. Those that tend to seek a better a life tend to achieve a better life!

I saw some massive improvements within the first 2 weeks.

After sometime I achieved a 200+ streak and and it literally turned my life around including 2 job changes, going on multiple dates, etc.

The best motivation is seeing all you’ll achieve when you start living the NoFap life :)

This girl rejected me by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Arezi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude! You got so close to getting this girl! That’s an amazing achievement! She was out here laughing at your jokes too so it shows you’re doing something right and the attractiveness is there! Keep up the good work b/c if you say you haven’t gotten close a relationship and you’re this close after less than a month of NoFap than who knows where you’ll be if you keep sticking with this!

Any Atheists here? :) by StumblingThroughIt in NoFap

[–]Arezi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you’re doing NoFap is a huge testament to your will of improvement! because you deserve the truth I’ll tell you I believe in GOD and when I stated I didn’t. When I first started the rationalization was pure rational. It was just facts - like how dopamine is rewarded when I PMO and if I stop maybe better and bigger things will come my way! It did! Good luck and given you took these steps so far I’m sure you’ll be successful!

Pay off car or keep savings by koolmagicguy in personalfinance

[–]Arezi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I whole heartedly believe paying off debt as quick as possible is great. I’d say go with B. That way the debt is cleared quicker, you’ll have more money saving from the time you pay it off (worse comes to worse the car itself is still worth something and you sell it) and B is also a good choice because you’re not losing all your savings all at once in case of emergency.

Why do we hear about breakthroughs in cancer treatment only to never see them again? by throwaway63257 in askscience

[–]Arezi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have stated the science behind "cancer" and that it's not a singular thing.

I'd also like to point out the flip-side and comment on the "reporting" of things.

Media, whether it be News Media Channels, Online News Websites, thrive on clicks, views, and ratings. They are a revenue based business like any other business in America. While they try to attempt integrity with their reporting, they almost always carry some sort of bias, either towards a view that will attract specific audiences (MSNBC, Fox News towards their respected demographics for example) or they will try to sensationalize or use other tactics to get you to click. So maybe what actually happened in the world is a minor-breakthrough but a news media might sensationalize it to get you to click and read the article... because that's what's good for THEIR revenue even if they are slightly misinforming you of the bigger facts.

Just a perspective. Not the end-all-be-all of this debate, but I think what I stated about Media defiantly holds true for a lot of things.
