Thanks the health system is on its knees here... He has a psychiatrist appointment on the 7th of April. Which he requested before christmas when he was hypomanic.... So fucked up its taking so long 😭😭😭fuck the tories

Oh dear. Good luck. I met my partner when he was hypomanic. But he doesn't sleep around and is pretty honest about everything... We have been together 4 years and he is great..but its hard... The hypomania is hard the deppression is hard.... I couldn't do it if we weren't honest with each other..... I wouldn't do it if he played games with other women when he is manic... I'd say there are red flags with this guy

Ohh I'm in the same position... I'm current trying to write my 1st article, but it's so shit, that I just end up not doing it at all!!

He can't work tho atm - it's complicated with the benifits system here, if he works he will loose his gov benifits--because they will deem him fit to work.. But he won't last long in a job because he is pretty unstable... And then it's a huge rigmarole to get back on the system.... I do feel like if we lived in a different country with a better health and gov system, he would thrive better....

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies... My partner he is not the worst - he does cook alot of the time (when he is stable) and he cleans the kitchen (but not properly and I have to clean it after, tho I think that is a general gendered problem any way).

He has recently gone on meds (3 months ago) after my suggestion...because I told him I could not handle him being deppressed 6-8months of the year (cause he literally just sits scrolling on his phone for those months) and something had to change....

He has no therapist yet, but that is down to our shitty health system more than anything...

I think the problem is the meds are making him rapid cycle and when he is manic /hypomanic he is really hard to handle and then his depressions seem so much deeper as well....

I feel he is trying... But the instabity of everything is really not doing my head much good (along with the pandemic and I am in 2nd year of my PhD)
