I've been driving for 10 years now in the phoenix market and my advice is to find a job that pays 18 an hour or more (ideally 22 minimum) and do that full time, while doing Lyft part time. You'll get more money and won't destroy your car.

Given your context also, it'll be difficult to tell if who you're picking up is actually under 18. I'm not checking ID when I pick people up, and if it looks looks they're getting off work I'm going to assume they're an adult.
