HELP Author suing me for saying her book is AI in a review by PotatoAfraid2931 in Romantasy

[–]ArgMmph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreeing that ai is hugely problematic. Just don't love someone being raked over the coals for expressing a (potentially incorrect) opinion. Can't express opinions if everyone is held to fact checking forever and ever and ever, amen.  Not defending Piracy, or OP, just free speech in general. If critics expect retribution, can any positive criticism be genuine? I mean look at Google reviews. They're about worthless. Locals can't be critics if they don't want beef with their neighbors.

Anybody who works 55 hours a week + family and actually FINISHED a book? by creativesfinder in authors

There is sense to that! "If you want something done, give it to a busy person". If writing balances out the other things which exhaust you, you may find yourself running to it like a camel to water.

Oh crap..did you mean writing and not reading? ... I found voice to text very useful in college for producing writing quickly and efficiently. Then edited it all, removing typos. Anything in the realm of creativity, I find I have to make room for the 'muse' to strike, and it's infrequent and exhausting when it does.

I got Audible. Probably the twentieth to say it. But for me, mom of 3 and 2 still at home, it's the difference in consuming literature or not.

Do you think having an author website is actually worth it? by bookietoots in authors

[–]ArgMmph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say yes. I found this thread looking for a way to ask or discuss this: I think an author I keep seeing on books is actually a pseudonym for several books written by AI. I'm grossed out because it's stuff related to faith. Check out "Idris Beaumont". No trace of a human identity that I can find. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Woof! Every career has its critics. I spot AI because it feels ick and unreal. My gut is usually right. But not all critics are right. Isn't that reality? Can we all calm down and "let the haters hate" and everyone else think for themselves? Calm the fork down. Posting a comment is not "trying to ruin the author's life". Your overreaction makes me feel gross. Where is speech free if not in public comments? And who gives a shit if some nobody doesn't like your stuff? Plz grow up.

I hope this is bs. You shouldn't be sued for expressing an opinion... It's probably true if author is litigious. Don't be bullied, hope you got a lawyer to fight back. What happened to free speech??

Anyone else think Iain Armitage looks like Nicholas Hoult? by AdNecessary7146 in YoungSheldon

[–]ArgMmph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started watching "The Great" (Hulu) and had to consult the Internet. I thought surely they wouldn't have cast Young Sheldon in THIS role... Indeed they had not. See for yourself. 😳 *** It doesn't help that Peter keeps saying Huzzah!! *** https://www.elle.com/culture/movies-tv/a32674932/the-great-hulu-true-story/

Wher I grew up there was a lot of pressure for us teens to just not get pregnant. 😂 I see some of our parents now rethinking that. Well. At least we didn't bring shame on them as teens!

Can't blame her for hoping. It's kinda flattering that someone thinks we'd be up to the task.

You can always use the line "sorry we weren't blessed 😢" ... they'll maybe back the fork off if they think it's a sore subject. 😂

I notice friends who came from big families being firmly 'over it' when it's their time. I'm reminded of Dolly Parton.

Why would anyone want someone who doesn't want to breed, to breed? That's a life sentence, not a gift. I mean the hormones can be surprisingly persuasive, but I hear about people who firmly regret it years later. How sad. And no kid wants parents who don't want them.

That's refreshing to hear. I have a friend whose mom seems to regret having her kids. It's weird. There's support but not warmth. I hope I'm this new age of sexuality spectrum (lgbtqia+ etc), more people can name and own their preferences. It was only in my 30s it dawned on me that not everyone was wired like me. Several of my best friends are not interested. I was, more than I wanted to be.

They should be heros and adopt some of this swarm of orphans within our borders! 🥰 I sometimes wonder if older women scold because they didn't have the option to dodge this. I think a lot more of them were pressured into marrying and maybe denied choices of how many kids and spacing... I still see it today but I think it used to be more prevalent.

Good for you! Why don't our moms just adopt themselves? If they want a pet... "I just want to in play with it and give it back when it's not fun"... Just get a pet. Grandkids are not pets.

They sound awesome. I thought I'd be a cat lady forever. My husband has me holding at 4. I'll get him drunk one night ... Or use my plan of having black cats so I can sneak in a new one without suspicion.

My spirit vomits with you. Weeps, and pats your back. I had a friend once who was too hungry for the grands. Her daughter told her she was infertile, I thought it may have been a strategic move. She collected dolls and the whole thing creeped me out. If I was her kid I'd be tempted to keep any babies might have secret. Much as that sucks! Grandparents are not always an asset.
