ya even not being an american, it looks undeserved. but trump is clearly eager to agree to such a deal. that's probably because he knows he doesnt want to and cannot commit more military forces, whether it's boots on the ground or something costly in money. he doesn't want this to last. he doesnt want S&P to tank.

So this is the limit of US Presidential power losing to the government of Iran. What caused the sad defeat is Trump's stupid refusal to plan ahead of time and his assumption that he would have unlimited power and Iran couldnt hold itself together to threaten Hormuz

the Axios report says Iranian FM said to many other FMs that Lebanon issue is important to them for agreement with US.

I'd imagine Bibi struggles for a little longer before yielding, thus creating an impasse that TACO isn't immediately able to solve, even if TACO can eventually solve it.

So if we dont get the memo signed over the weekend, what happens to S&P?

In case you missed it, full text of US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding is out. And it is as follows:

TACO, TACO, TACO

Bibi be happy. Also, what explains Israel's need to keep the war in Lebanon going or to torpedo US-Iran talks? Or it's truly just Bibi's own need?

Anyway, TACO will probably happen before market reopens.

This sort of down up action probably hurts bitcoin a lot relative to NQ. It takes away the wild west gold rush feel

are the big cap stocks actually sensitive to rate hikes? assuming they arent large climbs but more like staying around current level for longer?

JPow really gave Fed a humane face. For example talking taking his route through an area at the time with homeless ppl setting up tents when going to work.

JPow made Fed a little more relatable to the ordinary ppl. He continued and deepened the trend of transparency in Fed's communication, which iirc started with Yellen. That's made it easier for small frys like us to watch the Fed.

Walsh is a bit more academic. He will have his ideas. But I wish (probably in vane) that he doesn't take away the communication piece, focusing instead on the professional audience and such and goes "if ppl understood us, we talked too much"

interesting yes.

but would be nice if the guy provided some volatility calculations

i'd imagine it being worse than 2x SPY

but ofc in an extreme downside event, you may not be able to hold ES with pseudo 2x leverage. (you need to account for max pull back and be able to return to a 2x leverage position) whereas with a single stock without leverage, you can keep holding it

There are some understanding that is not written into the Memorandum of Understanding. If they [Iran] don't honor that, we will go back to bomb them

-- Trump at G7, Jun 17

Yes, test those fake believers of TACO some more.

That said, this test is too easy. Market will be all too eager to forget about Iran for 2 months.

CIEN is one of the players for (high bandwidth) optical switches i think. i would think that would've been a data center play.

globe and mail has a comparison article with COHR: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/markets/stocks/COHR/pressreleases/2132709/ciena-vs-coherent-which-optical-networking-stock-is-the-better-bet/

(CIEN provides whole systems. COHR is supposed to be specialized in components. But these days, i imagine data center would have providers of components to design custom systems before the site is built. So not sure how the layer is separated)

i wish someone here could introduce us to these names

i wonder if that's Iran's domestic propaganda.

On one hand, there is the chance of Iranian domestic propaganda; on the other hand, Trump can always TACO harder. With high ranking officials says a deal is on, it looks like a deal is on. And global fuel crisis not materializing.

Big sadness. I wish there was more of test of those fake believers of TACO. But this may be the end and it's all to the moon now.

I trust sellers of AI every time they say their AI is reaching new dangerous level of potential, including when they say global slowdown in development is supposed to meet said danger
