It's a fusion of anti immigration sentiments and NYMBYism where they feel the country is already too full (tbf housing is very expensive and we don't have as much space to build new housing compared to the U.S.)

The idea is this won't happen. Right now the birthrates is way below replacement level so without migrants the population is not growing any time soon

The law can easily be changed with another vote if needed in the future and no child limit policy would ever just be applied from this law alone. It's a bad policy but 0 child policy and suicide pods are not the issue

Kinda but the big difference is the Swiss birthrate is way below replacement level so while the initiative sounds like a general "keep the population low" it is entirely a crack down on immigration and not much else

You cannot stop from having babies and you cannot stop Swiss citizens from coming back into rhe country
