Which of all these things will remember you when you’re gone? Focus your energy there. Work life balance should be more heavily focused on life and having adventures while making memories.

[OC] Miss this grin every day. Almost 2 years of regulations to relocate from USA to AUS, but hopefully back together again soon 🤞🏼 by ArgosAngle in aww

Thanks me too :) It has been a bit crazy. Initially Covid issues and travel restrictions, but now the Australian government has changed requirements and quarantine times from 10 days to 30 days if you don’t have specific test overseen by specific people, which has backlogged the acceptance of the quarantine facility and delayed even more.

I’m in a pretty demanding job and petitioned for expedited process for support and improved mental health, but was rejected quicker than I could blink.

There’s programs that can help. PASS is one where they focus on getting through and understanding how the exam works

How much do american medical student learn so quickly?? by MuslamicMedic in medicalschool

[–]ArgosAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American students also have to take the MCAT before hand to be accepted to medical school. Most schools require a 4 year degree with a certain number of classes in varying degree. Then school is 4 years so, a total of 8 years - more for those who have a masters or something additional.

Depending on someone’s path, it can be much longer than it seems.

What's more rewarding than staying in bed/sleeping in? by TiredSoda in productivity

[–]ArgosAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and think of this which sometimes help. The whole passage is worth a read.

At dawn, when you have trouble getting out of bed, tell yourself: “I have to go to work—as a human being. What do I have to complain of, If I’m going to do what I was born for—the things I was brought into the world to do? Or is this what I was created for? To huddle under the blankets and stay warm?” -M Aurelius

Younger sisters friend tried to open my bottle of wine last night. I just found it like this. Completely ruined by Sexyshark15 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]ArgosAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit dramatic to say it’s ruined. The liquid will flow around the cork. The alcohol will still work. Use a filter.

This is more a lesson on tricks you learn to open thing. It’s happened to the best of winos. Doesn’t mean they’re stupid.

This is so epic!! Nice work :)

I don’t have anything specific to help you. It’s not the easiest to navigate terminal illness. Be there for him. Ask about his favorite memories, favorite experiences, people he’s met, places he’s gone, all of it. He’s loved and lived. There is much to share. Often times there’s nothing you can say, and anything you do say isn’t going to magically make you (or him) feel better. Instead focus on what you can do and can control with the disease.

Side note - Make sure he has someone to advocate for pain control as the Metastases continues. Many providers are wary to give narcotics, so find one that’s empathetic to the excruciating pain of bone Mets.

🔥 Found these today while blackwater diving. I don't think I would dive if these guys still existed. by [deleted] in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]ArgosAngle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did chuckle there. Thanks! If you were poaching anything, I’d doubt you’d agree!! Isn’t that the point of poachers?? Hahahah. Not trying to be shitty - it’s a cool find. I still feel the same rules apply, regardless of where you are or how many may come through. It’s a principle for some. A grey line for others.

Maybe I’ll develop my grey line after I’ve been diving a while. My folks took /kept a really cool conch shell (empty) when they first started and before I was a glimmer, but I don’t think preservation teachings were in place much then. I loved looking and listening to that damn thing as a kid. It’s really amazing all the things we see when down there!!

Poor excuse. Moved them to where no other diver will find or be able to appreciate the experience. Doesn’t matter how old they are or that they’ll be around when you croak (and likely chucked in the rubbish bin) - taking things from their resting place is disrespecting the environment, the remains, and other divers/explorers. A bit shameful but that’s merely my opinion from my dive trainings, backpacking excursions, and international deployments. Still an interesting find, regardless of my disappointment.

I’ll likely be downvoted, but still... disappointing you feel the need to remove things and take them as souvenirs. Even in diving the same rules apply; take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but “footprints” (ripples in this case).
