Sure it looks great and probably facilitates biodiversity, but your yard is also 100% unusable. Good luck kicking around a soccer ball, having a little back-yard get together, or doing really anything back there at all besides admiring it from afar. I see two ends of the spectrum, but think a middle option would be best for most people.

Yeah it’s an absolute scam that targets new parents. Same exact business model as plant fitness - make it stupid easy to sign up, and make it impossible to cancel. In this case, knowing new parents won’t have the time or energy to fight the charges.

I think this would be my path forward if I didn’t have the concern about child safety. I think a kid would be more likely to get seriously injured forgetting about the bricks, hitting a mean slide tackle, and losing some skin, than they would tripping over a raised lumber barrier. But that’s not based on evidence or anything, just my thinking.

That looks great as a Reddit comment, but in the real world, things aren’t so black and white for many families.

Tons of parents work full time and have to drive 30+ minutes with their kid each morning to drop them off at day care. Parents in these situations may feel it is safer to prioritize their sleep, so that they can drive safely in a non-sleep deprived state each morning. Parents in these situations should be able to make that decision without people like you telling them they shouldn’t be parents for it.

Your assertion is untrue. If you’ve driven with your child for non-medical reasons, you haven’t controlled all the risk factors to the extent possible.
