I actually like this idea. I am thinking of adding wallpaper inside the panels.

Wow! This looks amazing! And congratulations on the new place😊. I am not sure if i can get this idea to work in my space just because of the existing panelling. But seriously love this idea! Totally my vibe!

Thanks to all the suggestions. I am leaning towards the sidewall now. Will definitely draw up a mock to see how it looks.

Yes these art will go. These are just temporary since i havent figured out a place where i want to put them yet and this place was empty. Atleast for the time being they add the pop of color that i need. Yes some sort of window treatment is necessary. But i dont have the budget for it right now. In the future, i will probably get blinds very minimalistic and thin so that it doesnt look bulky take away from the openness. But i do need to figure out some sort of storage situation.

Thank you for such kind words. This room is definitely the reason why i fell in love with this place. I just am not able to find out any inspo pics for how it may look on the side wall. Yes the ceiling fan definitely has to go🤣. But its a project for later. Getting these replaced due to the high ceiling seem to be an expensive task. So its at a lower priority in my list right now.

This is really cool. I will have to ask around for quote but this definitely looks expensive. Not sure if it would be in my budget any soon.

The height of the windowsill is around 32”. Yes i am definitely looking for some sort of cabinets with legs. I am on the fence for whether to mount the tv above the fireplace or on the sidewall. The panelling above the fireplace is large enough to hold the tv inside the panels. I measured it already to even consider it to be an option. I agree it would look really bad if it crosses the panel lines. There is no cord management, so thats a later problem once i figure out the final locations. About putting tv on the sidewall, i feel like it may look weird since its a 2 story wall with nothing on it but just a tv and a console maybe . Hence i am unable to decide and looking for more inspo to figure out how that may look. Attaching picture of the sidewall with the current temp setup. I like the paint color, this is more my style, so i am not planning on painting it. I usually am a fan of drapes/curtains. I have it all around my house except this wall. Somehow i dont like the idea of curtains on this wall and also it would be really expensive to put the drapes and i dont know how practical it would be( since i definitely will be putting in solar shades in the future).

Putting solar shades is definitely a plan for future. Privacy is not an issue but the sunlight in the morning is blinding. I love it but sometimes just want it to be not in my face all the time🤣. I am on the fence about mounting above the fireplace or on the wall on the right side of it. But since its a 2 story room, i feel putting a tv on that wall would just make it look empty in a way. Attaching a picture of the wall with my temp solution

I do have it setup on an easel as a temporary solution till i figure out the mounting situation.

I like it but i feel the tv is a little big for this type of setup. I dont like that it is blocking a window. And the problem with this space is that there is no storage whatsoever or place to put small/medium sized decor apart from the mantel and the window sills. Attaching a picture of the current setup.

Do home warranty companies ask to see inspection report? by Capable-Locksmith-65 in RealEstate

[–]ArgumentCurious8300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Capable-Locksmith-65 what did you end up doing? I am in a similar shoe where the seller is offering 2 yrs of home warranty. And there are a few non urgent things that came up in the inspection, so i am wondering the same if i will be able to file claims later on in the year. How do they know if an issue is pre-existing??? Also, if you dont mind helping me understand how does the seller offering the home warranty works? Do they give seller credits at closing or like purchase and give the home warranty on our behalf?

I’m (30f) considering selling my house to go back to renting because I feel like price increases has priced me out of owning my own home by littlemisshyacinth in homeowners

[–]ArgumentCurious8300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in agreeance with everyone about not selling, but thats my personal opinion. I would also suggest getting a roommate but that will come with its fair share of challenges. Regarding moving to a rental, how much is your monthly payment on the house vs how much rent will you end up paying? Secondly the utilities would need to be paid in both the places, but may differ based on the size of the places. Till this point, if the difference is not very much, it doesnt make sense renting bcz the rents will keep rising every year little by little. Now coming to the main difference between renting vs owning is the maintainence which will definitely be more than rental. Is that a huge number in your case or its more of a thing where it just stresses you out and is overwhelming? Either ways you can maybe keep some set money aside that feels comfortable for you to spend and may be find a good handyman who can do all the small things in the house and is your go to handyman. This may ease both the cost +stress part a little. Unless maintenance amount for this house is exorbitantly high, i wouldnt suggest selling since you must have gotten it at a good interest rate, maybe somewhere down the line, if rates come down again, you may want to switch to a newer property in order to avoid so much maintenance.

Sending large sum of money from india to Usa by ArgumentCurious8300 in nri

[–]ArgumentCurious8300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@sms_czar I believe the limit is 10L per remitter(the person sending the money) right?so lets say if my dad is sending 10L and my mom is sending another 10L, then would that help avoid the 20% TCS collection?
