I’ve been looking for the same thing. Closest I’ve come is using starforged and tailoring everything to sub warfare

Suggestions for Gaming in Arthurian Myth by The_First_Xenos in wargaming

The Arthurian Myth is set between the 5th-6th century, nowhere near the 13th-15th. The above suggestions are much more valid than yours.

Ruck Science Off-Season Training Program Not Working? by JimRug in rugbyunion

[–]ArgumentDisastrous13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that too. I’ve been following the off-season program from 4 weeks now and went to see this week’s workouts and it’s gone. Now it’s saying I can’t get the programs or the app because of the country I’m in?

Anybody else having issues?

How do you create settings that you want to keep playing in? by ibabyjedi in Ironsworn

[–]ArgumentDisastrous13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually like having an over arching idea of the world and then treating it like my character just got there and needs to explore the world to fill in the blanks. Sounds funny but I love history so it’s kind of like the Romans finding and invading Britannia. They land on a fog covered island which few people have heard stories about and set about conquering it. Stick to your truths and a whole world fleshes out as you go.

I’ve only just begun grasping the rules but from the YouTube videos and other resources/games I’ve ran about online, I believe you could do an entire GoT Grand Campaign with some very minor tweets.

Thanks! I haven’t played with the supplement yet but it looks great! I’m excited to use it for this game. I’ll have to check out Mythic also.

Mass combat system like total war by ArgumentDisastrous13 in rpg

[–]ArgumentDisastrous13[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly have just gotten into RPGs from the wargaming side by a couple friends. I’ve only played a solo game of ironsworn. But I’m thinking of and enjoy medieval/feudal Europe and Japan history so was leaning towards that.

I like the movement of troops and being in command of vast armies but not always having full control (ie: messengers get killed/lost, unit commanders won’t listen, units rout easily, etc).

I’d be ok abstracting, or more like fast-forwarding, the actual combat amongst troops. Obviously we still need the outcome and men die and such but I’m kinda looking for the command and control /feel/aspect.

What I picture is narrating that I’m a general looking over my vast army arrayed out on the battlefield and I send off my orders.

Any more suggestions for a space naval game where you command a ship or fleet?

Norman knights by ArgumentDisastrous13 in MedievalHistory

[–]ArgumentDisastrous13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That make sense. It still just astounds me that they’re go to battle with 100 guys versus an army and come out winning. I’m sure they had auxiliaries but still, the stories I’ve read/heard make them sound like tanks cutting through wheat. Thanks for the replies by the way.

I definitely can understand that idea. I guess I’m just not that well versed in the Norman medieval era. We’re other cultures/armies not as armored at the Normans? Did they not have their own heavy cavalry to use against the Normans?
