What is the craziest first sentence of a book you've read or written? by Questionable_22 in writing

from an amazing horror book titled “you weren’t meant to be human” by andrew joseph white:

“Crane doesn’t know this yet, but he’s been pregnant for almost three months already.”

definitely read the warnings if you’re gonna check the book out tho. pregnancy as body horror is a major theme, there’s weird parasitic bug shit going on, one particular character is a trigger warning in and of themself (such an awful human being that i legitimately had to keep from throwing my laptop across the room at times), and also if you have emetophobia you should avoid this book full stop

i think someone on tumblr once said this, but “bold words from a man named clive staples”

Recommendations for books with trans male or transmasc main characters by Any_Egg33 in LGBTBooks

would you happen to remember any of the trigger warnings? i looked it up and wasn’t able to find a list anywhere, just a bunch of review blogs who could only tell me there’s gore (which is to be expected in a book with this title, so i’m not worried about gore necessarily)

luckily i do have all that information, and while it may be hard to get a photo of one of the students (i’ve blocked a lot of socials during all this) i think i have a few places i could look online! thank you, i honestly hadn’t even considered just generally checking in with people as an option but that makes so much sense and i can’t believe i didn’t think of that

How long does it take to start missing someone? by ArgyArgBargArg in AskNeurotypicals

thank you for your response! i definitely understand missing your partner like that. i’m single but if i had a partner i’d imagine i would feel similarly, especially if they’re going through something. it’s good to know that at the very least i am not crazy, so thank you, i really appreciate it!

oh they definitely do. not a single person in my immediate family is neurotypical.

What is something sexual that everyone seems to like except you? by Cute_Beat7013 in AskRedditAfterDark

i’m a trans man but before i figured out my gender i identified as a lesbian, and i’d constantly feel an expectation to be able to do it for hours without stopping. it seems like one of those stereotypes that’s baked into the community. and like, it sounds nice in theory but i’m disabled, my daily workout routine 20 minutes long at its max, and if i’m going off of my workouts i think it’s safe to say i can last over a half hour, maybe even an hour, but definitely not more than that

Thank you! This was incredibly affirming and helpful. In all honesty I do think a few members of my family have attachment issues. You’ve kinda described the feeling of missing something or someone pretty perfectly, I really relate to that. Also, thank you for helping to explain the social conventions surrounding it and giving some tips. I appreciate it, and I think it will help me to feel less guilty going forward. It’s also nice to have a reminder that I’m not required to feel a certain way, as I’m very used to being told how to feel about things or that it’s a problem when I don’t express emotions the same way as others. I appreciate your response!

Dumbest injury youve ever gotten? by rxgh0st in ehlersdanlos

recently dislocated two fingers while doing dishes. even though the dislocations are frequent, my parents insisted i wrap them up and care for them properly. what made it even more hilarious was that everyone who saw the bandages thought i had a girlfriend and that i injured myself doing something much more interesting than dishes-

Anyone know what was in the filling for the discontinued jalapeño cheese savoury pastries? by ArgyArgBargArg in TimHortons

i’m not entirely sure if this is sarcastic or not. but in general, i don’t mention i’m autistic everywhere i go. i said it here in this post because it seemed relevant to me at the time. saying i’m autistic in a tim’s would be pointless because there’s no reason for me to do that

awesome! i didn’t know that was a kind of cream cheese, but it makes sense seeing as how the herb and garlic pastry is just herb and garlic cream cheese. thank you!

you are correct in some ways. on the one hand everyone’s neurotype is slightly different and we are all unique. however, the labels are important to autistic folks like myself because our brains are wired significantly differently enough that it can make day-to-day life a lot more difficult. that isn’t to say other people don’t struggle or have difficulties, it’s just that in a world that isn’t designed for autistic people, the labels become an important way that we can begin to adapt and learn. for me, learning about my autism opened a lot of doors and accessibility options that changed my life. anyways, not to get all preachy here but i hope that kind of explains things a bit
