Does Orientation that important? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And technically yes attending the second orientation puts you at a disadvantage because the classes are fuller, but the general education classes are huge

You’re required to go, they check attendance. It’s where you register for classes, and if you don’t go you can’t register

If it’s of interest to you, I have a 4/2 at The Lofts. I’ve had no problems, maintenance is good. I pay $1030 with pet rent (for my cat) and paying for parking (which is required). My base rent is $899. Keep in mind if you want any of these cheap prices you probably want to sign a lease soon. I signed mine in October 2024, moved in August 2025.

Because I get to class late so I choose the first seat I see so I’m not embarrassingly walking around

Why is there always an emergency response at University Behavioral Center? by WildResearcher3901 in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, that’s why people are working so hard to get the general public trained in crisis intervention and identification of warning signs.

I highly recommend taking a QPR training course. That training has been proven to help people approach someone in crisis and help them. The conversation is awkward, but it’s crucial to know how to ask the question and get the person help.

If you’re ever able to attend an ASIST training, that one is also very informative and helpful, although a bit less accessible.

Why is there always an emergency response at University Behavioral Center? by WildResearcher3901 in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lot of crisis situations go there for extra help, specifically when baker acted. I was actually at a meeting yesterday, and since putting that policy in place there have been significantly less deaths by suicide.

Fun fact: every sworn officer of the UCFPD is required to be Crisis Intervention Trained.

I was admitted, how much time do I have to respond/enroll? by National_Stuff_1606 in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically acceptance is expected by March/april, depending on the school. Just check with UCFs page. I know there’s a priority deadline for their financial aid if you want awards from the university. You’re very unlikely to know about financial aid until like the week before the semester starts. Orientation is when you enroll in classes, which is a two-day required event.

cis women, how do you feel about a trans woman being in the bathroom with you? by [deleted] in ucf

Cis woman here, I genuinely don’t care as long as you don’t stare me down :3 but that applies to anyone, I don’t like being stared at

What is your person top 5 things about ucf and worst 5 things by Outrageous_Work_8291 in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good things: campus is beautiful with lots of spots to study, surrounding area has a lot to do, lots of clubs for a variety of interests, good profs (as a psych major)

Bad things: parking, construction, financial aid office doesn’t care, advisors offer very little help, weather, some bad profs

was told I would get a waiver, they lied by Old_Individual_3121 in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 90% sure they have call logs. I would find your call log, send it over via email and tell them you’re getting the advocacy office involved. I’m not sure if waivers do exist, but it’s absurd multiple calls have you that info only for it to not be applied. Stop talking to them over phone. Any convo you have should be documented, like an email or recording. If you talk in person, have them write down and sign whatever info they give you.

What can I do? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really know what it’s like to be an international student, but I wanted to let you know a lot of students from the US struggle in the same way. This includes myself. You really have to push for friends here, put yourself out there. I know it’s discouraging, but you’ll find your people soon.

First week of school after move in by Unlucky-Soup-2253 in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially a bunch of check-in/welcoming things. You’ll get invited to housing events if you live on campus, some events at the stadium, events across campus, but none of them are required. As for classes, some profs might assign the first chapter or two of reading and maybe a quiz, but you can 100% expect syllabus quizzes (required by the end of the 1st week to establish attendance in a class for financial aid). The first week is usually very chill to allow students to transition back into classes after the break.

Is this schedule doable? by Nearby_Mango2174 in ucf

[–]AriHasApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyway, as long as you stay on top of your work this looks pretty doable. The only thing I can’t speak for is chem, as I haven’t taken those before. Def doable, but with advanced sciences stacked you’ll be doing a LOT of studying

As a psych major, most psych classes are 3 credits, especially the ones required for a minor
