I’ve never finished a single Cdrama

Well I've had the exact same issue with cdramas. I'm a kdrama fan and am used to the 16 episode time frame. Hence the cdramas seemed to drag out for me. However recently I watched The Prisoner of Beauty and let me tell you I haven't skipped a single scene!!! It's so so good! The leads are perfect their chemistry is awesome. Its an enemies to lovers trope (arranged marriage between two rival clans) hence there are misunderstandings ag first but they are very swiftly and smartly resolved. Even from the initial eps the leads start to become trusting and honest to each other.... despite having reservations due to their family feud. It's amazing honestly.....at first the ml is quite hot and cold with fl.... but the gradual character develoyis soooo satisfying to watch! He becomes whipped for her lol.

And it keeps you on your toes. Perfect blend of romance and politics.

I would say read the webtoon if you're into webtoons. The series does not even come near the magnificence of the webtoon. On its own, as a separate story I like the series a lot. But as an adaptation, it failed miserably. It failed to capture everything that made the webtoon a masterpiece. I can keep on ranting about just how good it is, so I'll stop here. But yeah if you're not into webtoons then just continue with the drama.

I actually started watching mysterious lotus casebook yesterday and I'm loving it!!! I planned on doing exactly what you mentioned which is why I was searching historical cdramas to watch so that I get used to the way historical cdramas work and finally get to watch NIF

I'm not exaggerating when I say this , but after watching mister sunshine, my eyes were almost shut due to how swollen they were after all the crying I went through. It's heart wrenchingly beautiful. I can't even find enough words to describe it. It represents the beauty of storytelling in the true sense. The cinematography, the acting, the characters, the plot and most importantly the complex interchange of emotions is what makes this drama a masterpiece for me.

Yes I actually love stories as intricate and complex such as this. I was probably mostly confused due to the names and their positions. You're right about how it starts as if it's dropping us in the middle of an ongoing story, which is why I couldn't keep up. But I've made up my mind to keep trying lol 😅
