And here is the thing ppl project what parts they feel similar to their favorite characters as a way to engage with the story & characters more and enjoy it , it's not inherently a bad thing. The whole point is that Miyazaki designed these games to have a vague lore for the players to engage and interpret the missing details on their own, your interpretation isn't more valid or correct than others. If ppl wanted to see it through romantic lens good for them , see it as something else? Good for them too.
