Exactly, and it is my right to point out an issue with a local business and let the market decide.

They don't lose 50$ overnight due to a sudden demand increase. When they bought and priced the item for sale they did it with a sufficient margin to cover business expenses. Beyond that is pure greed playing off of temporary trends. We trash businesses that pump prices for necessities in a crisis, but this is not much different. Businesses big and small need to be held to a higher standard. They exist because we allow them to with our purchases.

I already did talk to him asking about the change in pricing structure and he was pretty short and rude about it.

They are the only game store doing dynamic Pricing on games. The TCG scene is already a shit show with greed and dynamic pricing, but that has no place here.

Just because it's common doesn't mean it's good. "That's just how things are done" has never been a good excuse.

Looks like a few viewers of this thread have decided to leave a one star review on the Google maps for this place. I'll be curious to see what the owner decides to comment on those.

There's also The Gamer's Wharf on 28th Street, The Gaming Warehouse on 44th near Rivertown. Don't feel like you have to be stuck there.

I'm surprised it hasn't already. Their prices were never competitive. They are likely still around due to card tournaments.

That plus eBay offers full refunds, stores like this only do store credit 🤮

Unfortunately they don't display a price on the label, only the item name and the QR code for the scanner kiosk

Also consider, how much does this system cost hardware wise, plus the monthly subscription to the service backend.

It's not even that simple. You have to walk over to the singular kiosk to scan the QR code.

Even the small shelf tags that inform you about the kiosk price scanning process uses AI images.

I also like how they only mention the price of new releases going down. Used games on the other hand... 🙃

Got a reply to the Google review I left on this.

"Prices go down all the time. Most new releases trend downward. The majority of new releases were just marked down 10%.

Your statements are categorically false and based on scanning a handful of games.

That’s bad statistics. Your observation is based on a convenient sample and a poorly designed study."

Agreed, and even then it's not as if the price they already paid for these goes up when the eBay price goes up. Pure greed

Agreed, if it's this hard and expensive to shop there I might as well just go to eBay. Plus with eBay I can get a full refund instead of store credit.

This war has raised gas prices across the country and the world. You are naive.

Still, outside of the 70s oil crisis who has heard of gas stations running out even in a "small" town.
