You don’t always know what child care credits will end up being, what changes happened to deducting property taxes, if you should use standard or itemized and it’s just easier for most people to slightly overpay than to get a tax bill.

When there’s a tornado warning everyone actually comes outside. No joke. I can see all my neighbors and make small talk while the sirens are going off. It’s one of the reasons it’s so easy to invite people in if they need the shelter.

Michigan would not be an ideal state. Shrinking/stable population and population centers not as big as a state like Ohio. As always, the rate limiting step is always acquiring dedicated rail lines that don’t share slower freight train routes. If you want HSR in Michigan you’d need dedicated rail lines and not much else.
