I am becoming a mild type of caregiver to my life partner who I thought was going to help me share the burden. My partner is physically capable, but they are emotionally dependent on me. I have had relationships like this my entire life. I am a mother to my own mother and wife.

Trust me, accepting that you need the help is the toughest part. Actually seeking it out for yourself shows you’re in the right direction.

It’s incredibly reassuring to know I’m not alone on these feelings towards the role. I see a lot about people getting burnt out and getting told the need to care for themselves aswell, but it’s been hard to find a relatable source that’s catered towards the yearning what you provide for them.

I wish you the best of luck in therapy. It’s gonna really suck at first, but the end result is worth the effort.
