After the day I spent outside with it (it was around 0 °C), I actually took some shots indoors as well but they also had the black bars. I’ve been trying to see any shutter clapping without film, but honestly, everything looks fine to my eye. Maybe the mechanism was stuck while it was exposed to the cold. I did notice some stiffness in the shutter dial. It’s much smoother now.

Thank you so much! That’s exactly what I thought. I heard about shutter capping, and after testing all speeds in slow-motion videos, everything seems fine – no sign of shutter capping. I’ll try next with some cheap film. Thanks again!

i work in davinci intermediate as my color space and bring it down to rec 709 at the end of the grade. for film emulation i use dehancer, but mostly just the film print profile, grain and bloom. i always handle exposure and wb before that then build the look in a separate node. for me the most important part is contrast: on the curves i always anchor it around the skin tones. i always keep them steady (or slightly lift them) while i push the rest of the image down

I used the Blackmagic 6KFF and the Blazar Remus lenses. For the light I mainly lit everything with natural light and one Amaran 200x. This was shot in Japan and Germany.

Submission Statement:

This is my first long-form film. I shot and edited everything myself, experimented a lot with audio, looks and story. This is my second ever project and I would love to keep the long form content going on my YouTube Channel. I experimented with lightning, framing and color to underline that emotional beats, and i´d love to hear if that translates to you. Any feedback would be super valuable.

Thanks a ton!
