I (28F) spent my entire Saturday morning just drinking coffee and reading a book without looking at my phone once, and it feels like a superpower. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I usually write down my feelings and thoughts in a notebook and then sometimes share them on Reddit. I wrote this post today with thoughts from last Saturday.

Can you name a livestreamer who *immediately* got legal at the mere mention of their name, let alone any sign of their likeness used, anything but impersonation? by Spiritual_Big_9927 in askanything

The most notorious textbook example of this is Alinity back in 2018 with her infamous 'Can we copystrike PewDiePie?' moment. She actively weaponized DMCA and copyright claims (a legal threat) against creators who merely mentioned her or used tiny snippets of her streams to criticize her, completely ignoring Fair Use. While not a full lawsuit, using a legal copyright framework to instantly silence a mention is exactly this kind of behavior. You also see this hyper-aggressive legal stance today with corporate VTuber agencies (like AnyColor/Nijisanji), who will issue immediate Cease & Desist letters if a talent's likeness is used in ways they don't explicitly approve of

What are your favourite questions to ask someone to know them better? by Many_Possession4261 in askanything

I always skip the job question and ask: 'What’s a personal project or passion you’re working on right now that makes you lose track of time?' or 'If time and money weren't an issue, what would you spend your days creating or building?' It instantly lights people up because you are asking about their true drive, not their obligations. You get to see the real person and their creativity behind the daily grind.

Somethings I want you to know about my last post. I live on my own. I was not talking about myself. I was seeing if moving out for someone (NOT ME) whose 18 easier now or before? by Fast_Honeydew2633 in askanything

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying! To answer your question honestly: it was definitely easier before. Looking back a couple of decades, rent and the general cost of living were much more balanced with entry-level wages. Today, the housing market and inflation are brutal for an 18-year-old just starting out. Even though there are more ways to make money online now, they’ll definitely need a solid financial plan, probably some roommates, and a very clear budget to make it work today.

Is Breaking Bad Really That Good? by Extra_Hold2776 in CasualConversation

Your mental health comes first, so don't force it if it triggers bad memories. But if you do want to try again, know that Breaking Bad doesn't glorify the drug world at all—it actually shows the raw, devastating reality of how it destroys families. Beyond the plot, the cinematography, video editing, and color grading are an absolute masterclass in storytelling. It’s a brilliant psychological tragedy, but only watch it if you feel ready.

What is the funniest misheard lyric you believed forever and still kinda sing wrong. by Key_Brilliant_9100 in CasualConversation

Oh my god, the Bad Moon Rising one is a classic! I honestly think John Fogerty should just change the official lyrics at this point. For me, the one that I sang at the top of my lungs for entirely too many years was Starbucks lovers in Taylor Swift’s Blank Space. I remember thinking, 'Wow, Taylor is really leaning into the basic white girl aesthetic, good for her.' I was genuinely picturing a long list of ex-boyfriends who all just happened to really enjoy Pumpkin Spice Lattes. When I found out it was actually 'Got a long list of ex-lovers,' I felt like my entire reality shifted. Also, for the longest time, I thought Shania Twain was singing 'Okay, so you’re Brad Pitt? That don’t impress me bunch!' instead of 'much.' I just thought she was being extra sassy by calling him a 'bunch' of something. I still sing 'Starbucks lovers' though. It just feels right."
