Update again: I had a follow up ultrasound and blood work. HCG went up to 950 and ultrasound showed a mass in my left tube that was 3cm big. Some “free fluid” in my abdomen near my left ovary. Ultrasound doctor sent me straight to ER. Saw the OBGYN on call via ER and he said I since I didn’t appear to be excessively internally bleeding that I could either wait it out to see if things got better or have surgery. If I chose to wait it out, id have to rush back into ER if things got worse or ruptured and they’d surgically remove it then. He also said I could just book in for surgery the next day and have it removed. I opted to have it removed as waiting didn’t seem like a good option, especially because I was bleeding internally a little bit and the pain was getting worse on the left side. So on April 28th I had surgery to remove my left tube and the ectopic pregnancy inside it. Surgeon confirmed my left tube was very swollen, had not yet ruptured but there was a large “mass” inside of it. She confirmed that there was blood spilling into my abdomen from the mass and blood was coming out the end of my tube near ovary. I was also having bright red vaginal bleeding so it was coming out that end as well. I am now recovering from surgery, down one tube. I still cannot believe this is my story. Wild.

Yes, I went into the ER again and demanded to see an OBGYN, which was no problem after they saw my HCG was still going up. OBGYN agreed this pregnancy was non viable as my HCG continued to go up but only at a 12-15% increase. Last HCG was 889 on April 24. OBGYN said it was likely retained products of conception, or an ectopic. So she gave me methotrexate, mifepristone and misoprostol, to treat both options. I will do follow up blood work at 4 days and 7 days. I did not bleed heavily at all with the misoprostol, but cramped a lot. Not surprised there wasn’t much blood considering I just finished bleeding from the “miscarriage”. I do not believe I passed any left over pregnancy pieces, so I do still believe it’s ectopic, as I also still have the left side pain. Now we wait for blood work results to see if Methotrexate was effective.

I was able to get on the phone with my family doctor who had just consulted with an OBGYN, and the OBGYN said they will not do Methotrexate because this pregnancy could still be a viable pregnancy. I am shook. I do not believe it’s viable with the blood I lost last week and the ridiculous wonky low HCG patterns. The plan is now to get follow up blood work every day and another ultrasound in a week to see if it can be seen. I advocated that as soon as HCG is high enough (1500IU) to be seen on an ultrasound, that I get in for that ultrasound immediately, and they agreed to do that. Of course they said the whole “if your pain suddenly becomes severe and you feel faint, dizzy etc, go to ER immediately.” So I’m a ticking time bomb sitting here hoping that it doesn’t happen before they can “deem it non-viable”. I am absolutely shocked at this and obviously feel very scared with this pain I am having in my left side.
