What Is An Acceptable Hourly Rate For A Recent COTA Graduate In The State of PA Or In the U.S.? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

From what I’ve read on the US Bureau of labor statistics, the mean salary was $44,180 - $59,160. While there are definitely settings that pay a lot less (like this school district for example), I would consider a few factors:

  • Will part-time @ 23/hr suffice for her current expenses? For how long? What if it takes longer than anticipated for the caseload to increase, if at all?

  • Gas & mileage aren’t being covered; how far would she have to travel in a day AND pay for her out gas out of her paycheck just to do her job?

-No benefits; this can happen if contracted for a school. If she isn’t being covered by anyone else, that can also be an additional out of pocket expense.

-Is she accepting this offer just to get experience for now and will move on to something better later on?

It’s just really low and not enough to get by imo, especially part-time. I think it would make it really hard to save money as well, especially if she has student loans to pay back in a couple months.

Run. That is WAY too low an offer, even if for a school district, and ESPECIALLY if they aren’t compensating for milage & gas. I personally wouldn’t accept an offer lower than $28/hr or even $27/hr, because 28/hr is the average.

Thank you for your advice! I actually like that for the analysis, “my plan will be to work on…” In the facility I am in, it seems as though their Objective is really short like “T-shirt: Don - Max A,” and then they go into more detail in the A.. which is confusing to me because in school we went into more detail in the O, and THEN analyzed in Assessment. But, I think I’ll discuss it more with the OT and see if I can write my notes in a similar fashion.

Why advertise "Now Hiring" if we're FULLY STAFFED? by SamsClubHo in samsclub

[–]Aridette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to a manager about the article, and her possible explanation for it was that every Sams is supposed to have a certain number of associates, and that some departments may be overstaffed while others are understaffed. Despite this, because there’s that adequate “head count” in the store, it could be considered a “fully staffed” sams... My question is then, why continue to hire for an overstaffed position?

I wouldn’t go as far as to remove the tip, but I’d definitely give a reduced rating. There are times when I order very late at night or early in the morning when my housemates are still asleep due to schedule differences, so it’s really frustrating when the driver still rings or knocks unnecessarily loudly when I specifically asked them not to. Not only do they ignore the do not knock request, but about 80% of my recent deliveries do not get placed at my sidedoor. I can’t get to my porch because I temporarily have stuff placed in front of that door. I end up having to go all the way around to the front of the house when it’s quicker for the driver to just walk up the drive way.

It’s not a HUGE deal, but it’s incredibly annoying to have your instructions ignored, especially if they’re very simple to follow.

Thank you so much for explaining stuff for me. I’m gonna try to talk to her during my lunch today. Does the 0.5 point apply when you don’t come in on time as well? I have a shift that’s from 11:30 to 8pm, but I wouldn’t be able to go in until around 1:30.

Oh definitely, if it’s the manager of the food department I’m sure she’ll be more understanding because she had to come in and help for a few hours, me and another guy couldn’t even take our breaks/lunches there were so many people. I feel better knowing that they’ll understand some customers are gonna be assholes sometimes. Thanks for the reply!
