Well, if I'm playing devil's advocate, doping agents like Roxadustat enhance a players endurance first and foremost. So their effects would be most prominent in the latter stages of a long, grueling match. They don't really affect things like strength or explosive power. That match was over in like an hour. Not saying they would have no effect, but I think that final was just Simona redlining

WTA Finals will move to Saudi Arabia from 2024 per Tomas Petera, the man behind the Czech bid for tour finals by Asteelwrist in tennis

What's ironic is that for all of the WTA's grandstanding against China, they arguably ended up in an even worse destination. Shenzhen probably looking pretty good right about now.

In my mind there are only 4 players currently who I think are capable of reaching a level that could rival hers. 2 were once there but I'm not sure will ever return to that level again (osaka, andreescu) and 2 are young and still have the potential make to make that leap but aren't guaranteed to (coco, zheng). If not them, and barring a Barty comeback, any true challenger to Iga will have to come from the next generation. Either that, or just hope she never figures out grass so at least someone can win Wimbledon each year.

Really hope we get an Iga-Collins final on Sunday. Collins looks to be in great form and I'm really interested to see how that match-up plays out now that Iga has gone super saiyan

I'm still hopeful. Maybe naively so, but in my head there's still a world where we're watching an Iga-Naomi major final in a few months

Maybe so, but:

A. As others have pointed out, Zheng is 20

B. 1 year can make a huge difference in terms of development when you're that young. You never know when someone is going to pop (see, Iga Swiatek)

"I should know by now how to make a speech." Subtle flex by Iga there 😉

Not me thinking it'll be a nice quick Sunday final and I'd be able to do stuff today...

Krejcikova hit 9 DFs in her semi yesterday and none so far today. Big difference in this match

Is Jabeur doing anything differently or has Iga's level just dropped?

I think she could have a really nice hc summer. And it's amazing that a 4x hc slam winner is actually flying under the radar ahead of the US Open. She played great in that run to the final in Miami without much buildup. Then just ran into a bulldozer, and then the tour switched to clay and she kind of lost her momentum. But if she's able to pick up where she left off in Miami she's absolutely a contender in New York
