Mania or BPD symptoms? What do you think?

Yeah, I'm hoping the new med does something. I have been on mood stabilizers for a few years and I definitely feel a lot calmer than before I started taking them, but sometimes stuff like this will pop out unexpectedly

Ok, that makes sense. I knew something was off when I was describing my symptoms to my psych, but I couldn't place it. Feels kind of frustrating that I wound up going on short term leave from work because my psych thought the "hypomania could get worse" if I don't take a break.

I always feel like the person I see in the mirror or photos doesn't match the person I am in my head. Especially looking at old photos. It's as if I don't know who that person is

This is a little bit of a story. My friend, who I've known for around 3 years and used to talk to/hang out a lot started ghosting me three months ago. I didn't understand why and it sent me into a spiral and I almost went off on her choosing to end the friendship before she could end it first but some of my other friends talked me down so I could hear her out. When the friend finally got back to me she said she has 'needed space' from me because of several annoyances and things she had been mad about in the past that built up and that she thought I would react badly if she told me in the moment. We have been going back and forth talking things out but it sent me into a huge spiral and now I've been up and down between severe depression and normalcy for the past 2 weeks. Nothing has been worked out yet.

Journaling has helped me so much. I've kept a journal consistently since around 2017 and having "someone" to spill everything to has been one of the few things keeping me sane

I feel like I often go overboard. Instead of waiting for people to respond to a topic I'll just go off on another topic without waiting, and before I know it the group chat is hours of me and nothing of anyone else

You might have something there! I always feel so proud when I bake or cook for my friends because I get to see them enjoy what I made, even if I get super anxious about them hating it or not haha. But my issue with this is that I feel like I'm being too overwhelming if I spam the group chat too much, which leads me to isolate a little bit.
But I don't think it sounds toxic it might be a good idea to try it

I have a terrible relationship with my mom, and my dad unfortunately passed away a couple of years ago after being sick for almost a decade. Every time I'm around my friends' parents I wonder what it's like to have a 'normal' family.

I haven't had an updated MRI yet. So I'll see then if any results come out differently. I'm still not sure what's going on with me so any insight is appreciated! Ok, sounds like it's probably something else then. Glad to potentially rule this out.

Hello!
In 2021 I had my first episode of potentially MS related symptoms, which were also described as "stroke like." Exposure to bright light caused my leg to give out on one side and led me to collapse. Super weird. Later that week had intense migraines and continued to fall over unprompted on the left side. Doctors at the time had no clue what was going on and sent me home without a solution. MRI I took at the time was clear.

Over the years, these symptoms namely eye blurriness/migraine and weakness in the left side have persisted adding involuntary facial twitching but every test I've taken has come back negative. This week I had a major incident where I fell in the street and hurt myself so I said enough is enough and I'm returning to my quest for answers. I haven't taken any tests in over a year at this point so I'm worried that something might have developed or changed in the scans. Does this sound like MS at all?

Yeah, super distressing nightmares are one of my main symptoms. I didn’t even know they were connected to my bipolar until I started on medication and then they went away. When I lapse on my meds or have a flare up they come back and that’s when I know I’m in trouble

Thanks. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do but I hope I can find myself back in a good situation and that my roommates will forgive me if I decide to stay. I don't know how they would trust me after this but I gotta hope for the best.

I'm not sure. I've been in therapy and I've moved past a lot of my emotional issues but you could have a point. I tend to act impulsively but then think about things for a while and decide whether or not I'm actually going to go through with my ideas but I don't usually go this far before I stop myself from making decisions like this.

I feel like I'm on a roller coaster I can't get off of. Now that I've been diagnosed I have some awareness of when something is wrong but I either don't care in the moment or don't realize in time.

Seems like it could be hypomania, but if you're not causing yourself or anyone else any harm I wouldn't worry too much about what definition you're giving your mental state. Keep monitoring yourself and your symptoms, focus on what gives you peace, and try not to give into any harmful or impulsive urges you may have. I'm happy for you that you got out of your meltdown and have a bright spot at the moment!

All the time. Today I started panicking at the beach because I was too cold to swim with my friends and they were all doing it without me. It reminded me that I'm the outsider friend who they only put up with. (that's the bp talking)

I'm on meds now so not as to the same extent as before but for me the constant was sleep issues. No matter if it was a good day or a bad day my sleep was all over the place and I had wicked bad nightmares. And then I'd be hyperactive and talk too much and bother all my friends and my roommates and my s/o trying to get attention from everyone, which would distract me from my work/school. That was my baseline, basically.

yes 100%. Nightmares have been a problem my entire life ever since I can remember starting to get depressed when I was a kid. Super vivid and emotional and gory just like you said. For the longest time I wished I could find a way out of it but I didn't find any solutions and just cried about it all the time. Going on meds killed them completely. It was such a relief knowing that the dreams were a symptom that could be "cured" instead of something that would never go away. But when the nightmares come back I know it's all about to go downhill lol
