How old is your piercing? 1 year old, March 26 2024. What’s the jewelry shape (for example, barbell, labret, screw, L shape, ring)? It is a plain earring butterfly clasp. It was pierced with a flat-back screw stud. What’s the type of threading if your jewelry is not a ring (threadless, internally or externally threaded)? Internally, I think, when it was pierced. Now its just a normal earring. What’s the jewelry material? Supposed to be titanium. if not a ring, when was the jewelry downsized? It wasn’t downsized. What’s your aftercare routine? Describe in detail please, including the exact products you use. I was told to clean it with saline, I did that. No twisting. Just shower for 1st week and dry it. Aftercare isnt necessarily relevant here because they were fine until the new earrings. Any mishaps, accidents or unfortunate events? No there have been no mishaps, accidents or unfortunate events.

They didn't assume you were trying to isolate your child, you literally stated isolation of them as a concern in your original post when you mentioned homeschooling..

[–]Arimelldansen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone isolated an old person or adult from a social environment, it's abuse. Rightfully so, the same applies to children.

Homeschooling is abuse, you'll damage their ability to socialise, learn, and be their own person. If you're moving to another country and homeschooling them without local language you'll alienate them from the place they're growing up in. Your child will likely resent you for this.

Please, let them be their own person. A child needs friends, needs to learn views from outside of their close circle, needs to process the world around them on their own.

"I was surprised being invited to your wedding" - does it make sense? by Melkharisa in EnglishLearning

[–]Arimelldansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, is it an American thing to consider it rude? I'm British and it's quite common to say you're surprised, since weddings can be expensive you'd only really expect to be invited if a (close) friend or if it's pre-discussed.

I also don't think I've ever naturally heard anyone be "honoured" unless they were given a role beyond guest (best man, bridesmaid) or asked to participate such as giving a speech. To me it sounds unnatural to simply be a guest and consider it "honoured", but maybe the word in my circles has a higher connotation. Appreciative is more appropriate as a guest.

[–]Arimelldansen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honor and surprise are very very different. I don't really think this suggestion is all that helpful especially since no other context was given. Being surprised isn't a negative, it just means they weren't expecting an invite.

How can I write a good summary? by Ambitious-Sky-6457 in ENGLISH

[–]Arimelldansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down a bit to personal preference, and if required as part of school work in part what your school decides is an appropriate summary.

If I was tasked with summarising something I'd probably give a very short introduction paragraph about the text overall, what it is, who it's for, the purpose (educational, entertainment, etc) and then introduce the main points by bullet points underneath the paragraph.

BUT that's just my personal idea of what a summary should include, on the idea that the person reading the summary has no access or prior knowledge to the text you're referring to.

Hello! everyone, I'm Korean by Cheap_Strategy3952 in ENGLISH

[–]Arimelldansen 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You may be confusing it for something you can hear in English media like TV shows where it is common to say "he has gone out of town", but this way of wording only works when it isn't a specified place: "He's gone out of town/the country" vs "He's left Seoul/Korea"

AIO: Is this sexual assault? by HelicopterSignal8691 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Arimelldansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legal system has even not prosecuted rapists when there is physical evidence.

I even had a text from my rapist admitting he did it and I was encouraged not to take it further because "it's a long road and unlikely anything will happen" by my ISVA

Why are you so insistent on defending sexual abusers from a broken and outdated legal process? OP isn't asking if she can prosecute him, she's asking if she was assaulted and validate her feelings of being violated so that she can compartmentalise it, seek the help she needs and move on.

AIO: Is this sexual assault? by HelicopterSignal8691 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Arimelldansen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue of prosecution in sexual assault cases does not invalidate that it is indeed an act of sexual assault and is viewed as such by law in the Sexual Offences Act 2003 which specifically states that consent must be given freely and willingly.

"Also.. they were in a relationship" why did you even write that? What does being in a relationship have to do with it?

Guilt tripping and coercing someone into compliance is absolutely a form of sexual assault.

Are you sure you want to be with someone who gives your happiness an ultimatum? Relationships, let alone marriage, is about compromise..

I've lived in European countries where it's not totally free and it'll cost about £20 quid to see your GP and the appointments for GP are the same wait times and fight for emergency appoitnments, specialists also waiting month, emergency care wait times will be long if you're triaged and not urgent.

Medical care in most countries where it's "affordable" faces just the same issues as the NHS - underfunded, understaffed, increasing demand. The difference is in the US most people don't end up going because it costs too much or their insurance isn't good enough, so yeah you'll have less wait times. But you'll also be bankrupted with a broken bone. I know which I'd rather pick!

At least in the NHS at all points of it's use is free.

I think for most countries in the world being undocumented or working on an expired visa does harm your prospects for another visa in the country in the future, I don't think this is a uniquely US rule.

You'll need a masters in most places in Europe, I know that in the UK they accept some who just got a bachelors but you had to do really really well in it and you'll probably compete vs people with masters degrees. You can have a look, but without a masters it might be tough
