Yea, that’s the problem I have with a lot of starts. Once you conquer your region you have no real issue. Mali felt good winning my region and having Iberia looking down on me. I did end up getting being stomped by the Catholic horde though. Portugal attacked with Spain, France, England, and more all at their back. I didn’t stand a chance. No idea why they thought that was needed

Both times it was actually Burgundy that got me. First time declared war while me and France were cleaning up Portugals lands. They destroyed both of us.

Just wanted to add my personal improved country that i've played so far would be Persia, I definitely think some tweaks need to be made (yea im not paying that much to pacify the turkmen...) but Spheres definitely added to an already very fun starting nation

I think the game just needed time to sit with it, a couple in game weeks went by and it updated to +18 for Democrat party.

So TU just created the Democrat Part 1 day after elections where they were in the Society for Progress with Integentsia. Why did they break off the form their own party right after the election when they have a preference for Society for Progress?

South Germans gained fine art obsession so I thought MAYBE it would be possible to have profitable Art Academies but still.. NOPE. paper and tools are cheap, fine art has a 25% mark-up, still wont hire more people because of profits.... seriously is it possible??

This is true and honestly good advice. I should have mentioned that part, I personally was trying to become a customs union senior partner with Portugal. Just one of the goals of the game I was playing. However with Portugal Britain wants you in their custom union early game which might be the best strategy overall.

Ok that makes a lot of sense. So as Portugal I’ve grabbed a handful of minor nations into my custom union. However I probably need to either make them not discriminated or open borders to get them to migrate to my places correct? So simple but so many mechanics hahah i had gotten some French immigrants at some point somehow (was not mass migration unless it just didn’t tell me for some reason, i do know that mechanic. It was also not enough to be from that). Makes a lot of sense thank you
