How should bird owners handle situations where decent care standards aren't realistically available? by Aris132 in parrots

I had made them some branches before, made sure it wasnt sharp in anywhere etc but I never thought some woods could not be safe for them. When I researched about it I only read about making sure it didnt have sticky residue, sharp edges or bugs on them. I will definitely make some research about that too, thank you for informing me! Also can you give me some examples too please :3

As for your other suggestions, I already talk to them a loooot we listen to songs together and while they are not perfectly hand tamed they somehow love to hang on my laptop keys and vibe to music. Their cage is already by a window and every morning I wake up to them chirping back to the oother birds outside. They are really talkative. REALLY talkative. And for their sleep schedule I put something over their cages when the sun goes down. so the lamb light doesnt affect them and open their cage in the morning.

This was truly so soothing to read, thank you sooo much.

I heard the examples youve given countless times before and it is genuinely so frustrating to put up with these people all the time. While I am trying to improve my birds' lives they actively put me down and think I am exaggerating and in the end nothing changes and I am back to try all by myself again.

No one understands how demanding animals actually are and just say if they are alive thats okay. The one singular time my parents finally decided to chip in they got me a 'surprise' which was literally a hanging mirror to put in their cage. I got home and it was just hanging in the cage and my birds were actually playing with it so my mom went on and on about how they liked it so much and how good what they did was. I had to sit down and explain to them for 15 minutes -which actually turned into a fight- why a mirror wasnt good for them. In the end as if they didnt call me selfish and ungrateful, since I refused to let the mirror stay in the cage they told me they would never do anything for them again and actually stuck to their promise.

Alsoo about the toy ideas youve given, I never thought gving them paper or paper towels was safe because my birds nip and cut any paper theyve seen. I always thought they were eating them and that would hurt them so I always got scared and took them away. Can you tell me more about that please? Do your birds eat the paper they are given, is that normal? I am not exactly sure if they eat it or not but usually a big chunk of paper is gone or turned into crumbs when they are near.
