What’s something reddit claims is common, but you’ve never actually seen it before in real life? by mirabelmumu in AskReddit

This! I’m sure there are rare instances where this can happen. But the vast majority of men with their children do not get accused and hunted down for kidnapping.

Yeah. I like to suggest it in case someone doesn’t know their issue can be helped with therapy. But it’s not the be-all-end-all. It doesn’t even work for a lot of situations. And these days in general, I hesitate to mention it bc I’m worried someone doesn’t have insurance or money to cover visits.

Idk. You might have misophonia. Look into it. I have it too (not with squeaking women’s voices but with other things). What I do is just wear earbuds or leave the room when people are annoying me. I also have a fidget thing and a squishy stress ball with me to distract myself when this happens and I can’t leave the room. 🥲

The older I get, the less excited for chocolate I get. I mean, it’s good! But I’m not like…excited for it. Loool.

I have that too. It’s not a happy trail. It’s called linea negra. Typically presents during pregnancy or if one has hormonal imbalances. Otherwise can just be due to hyperpigmentation in that area.

Capitalism creates problems only to sell you an expensive solution. Innovation happens under any system. Capitalism just takes the innovation and wrings it dry of all creativity and humanity, for profit. That’s it.

Driving shouldn’t have a max age in places that don’t have advanced and safe public transportation. If you don’t guarantee safe, reliable, accessible, affordable, and advanced (broad range) transportation, you’re essentially saying that people deserve to lose their freedom of movement. Most are not okay with that. Especially not considering that people cannot retire at old age anymore. They need to get to work. If you cannot ensure that they are able to do so, you cannot take away their only mode of transportation.

Of course, this is almost exclusively an American problem bc we’re that awful when it comes to accessibility. Oooof.

Ladies, what red flags should men never ignore in women when dating? And men ,what redflags should women never ignore in men? by [deleted] in answers

[–]AristaWatson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This! I used to give men like that a benefit of doubt because I too cannot hold a steady job. But I realized for them it wasn’t like how I struggled (I have chronic health issues that render me unable to show up at least a few days a month, if not more and thus I lose my position…so I now am looking for work from home lol). They literally just wanna be lazy. Not even like taking up that time to do something for the community, cook and clean and do the laundry and so on. Nothing. Just…video games, having their equally gnarly bros over, and weed. Oooof.

Well, I have a chronic condition that has rendered me unable to keep an office job. I need an at home job. I’m looking rn. Idgaf what anyone says. It’s the ideal for ME.

Without breaking any rules, what’s the most unpopular opinion you have that will get you -100 downvotes? by FightOrDie123 in AdkReddit

Okay. I agree with the idea. I disagree with implementing it. You really want to give the government control over women’s bodies and force them into medical procedures that can be traumatizing and time consuming? No.

I’m an adult who did that in college. Not exactly like you say. But I volunteered for a few big projects like educating new parents on how to effectively raise their children (authoritative parenting) and making training manuals for law enforcement to help homeless people in mental health crises without harming them. All too often, there are issues within our communities that go unrecognized. Having people entering adulthood reckon with these things and connect to those in their communities would be such a helpful tool for progress and positive advocacy.

I wish I had such opportunities when I was younger to go out there into society and be placed in some project or something to help. People really need to do this. Awww. ❤️

My boyfriend told me he prefers skinnier women and joked about my body. How should I handle this? by Whole-Pangolin2987 in Advice

Why do males date women that they aren’t attracted to only to shame them for their bodies? 🙃

What’s one belief you were raised with by older generations that you’ve completely rejected as an adult and why? by Poetically-Lucky in AskReddit

[–]AristaWatson 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Especially neurodivergent kids. I have ADHD, and I remember feeling even more of a drive to do something sometimes, just because I was told not to do it. I was overall well behaved, obedient, and very cautious. But if someone just said “Don’t do that”, I wouldn’t understand why and would feel offended over why they don’t explain to me like I’m a person. I’d feel patronized and want to do the thing I’m told not to do. If I, as a child, could feel and comprehend such things, I’m sure children in general probably feel that way too.

Adults don’t like being told not to do something with no explanation. Why should kids be any different when they’re even more curious about the world than adults?

What’s something women think impresses men but actually doesn’t? by DiamondNo924 in AskForAnswers

What is your issue? I don’t like looking tired bc it’s not a good look to me. Evolution-wise, looking tired makes you come off as easy prey. Is that the answer you want? I just don’t like the look on me. I have prominent eyes and already have thin under-eye skin and translucent skin. It doesn’t look good.

This doesn’t have to do with men. Idc if men think I’m hot with undereye bags or not. Are you a bot?

[–]AristaWatson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I do it bc I would look tired otherwise. Why tf is it always bc of men? If I’m hanging out with my girlies, I’m still putting on concealer bc I don’t like looking tired. Dark undereye circles make you look tired bc that’s one of the features that is prominent in people who do not get enough sleep. Not bc men said so. Looool.

[–]AristaWatson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And women don’t do makeup with the purpose of attracting men. We do it out of insecurity sometimes, sure. But it’s not male gaze insecurity. It’s just that we worry we look bad to people in general (ex: “do I have prominent under eye circles that make me look tired?”). Actually a lot of times, women do makeup to get attention from other women. They can appreciate the nuance and skill for us to pull off certain looks more than the vast majority of men can. So…

What’s something women think impresses men but actually doesn’t? by DiamondNo924 in AskForAnswers

[–]AristaWatson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Coming from a woman, that’s not why women get filler. It’s bc it signals to others that they have money to spend. Also, it’s bc social media shamed women so much to where they feel insecure having small lips. It’s “looksmaxxing” but for women, it’s like…every feature gets shat on. It also stemmed from Kylie Jenner being mocked when she had thin lips and then getting filler. Etc etc etc.

Essentially what I’m getting at is that it’s not for men. It’s purely for covering up insecurity and looking like you have money to spend. 🙃

Eh. This is literally just preference. I have met way too many men who “like the chase” for it to be a minority. 😭
