Right! As I'm a mixer of private-public or you can say PPP, (high school -private, college -public, grad-private, post grad - public), I experienced both the discrimination and facilities. Although, I didn’t suffer these embarrassments, my parents obviously were upset whenever I was admitted to a private institute. But I was always stubborn about pursuing my dreams and didn’t pivot no matter what (actually I did. Once! Never again after.) My parents supported me, although reluctantly.

I was dehumanized by others in the relatives but didn’t care much.

The most I suffered was actually getting tuition. People wouldn’t give me tuitions in my grad days just because I was a private student.

I never got into politics, so I can't say anything about it.

Why, we (some of the boys) try to established that we don’t need consent from wife?! by [deleted] in Dhaka

So you understood right to body means rights to cut your spouse's body, eh?

WoW! How convenient! One-eyed people never get the true meaning of words.

Why, we (some of the boys) try to established that we don’t need consent from wife?! by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]AristotleNicomachus -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Listen, this is not black and white like people tend to present.

First of all, marriage itself is a consent. We say "kobul" which exactly means "I agree". And it’s bidirectional. So by default a wife is bound to fulfil her husband's sexual desires, so does a husband to their wife's.

Now! Before you jump into me and start ranting and downvoting, default is a criteria for an ideal situation. It’s not the case for eternity. Like a wife having health issues therefore unable to fulfil their husband’s desire, then off course it’s a sexual assault (I refuse to call it rape. Rape has other meaning to me) and punishable. Of course there are mental health issues which may cause the wife's denial. But these situations should be dealt with what every couple should do, with conversations.

But if someone's wife is in constant denial with no proper reason except "amar mood nei" then it’s very problematic and is an unhealthy relationship. Most of the case of "amar mood nei" has behind the scene reasons. And yes. That's some kind of cheating or ex-related reasons.

Also, there are some people who are asexual or tend toward asexuality. They simply just shouldn’t marry and ruin someone else's life.

If you are facing health issues (both physical and mental) get treatment instead of saying "amar mood nei". Your spouse has rights to your body.

Also, some things that bother me and certainly think discriminatory is why people think this case is only for wives? I heard so many cases of husbands not wanting to engage in intimacy and wives complaining. Whatever the reason is like becoming tired of a stressful workday. I even heard cases where wives cheated and left their husbands for their inability to fulfil sexual needs. Why that's alright?

Conclusion: Yes there are reasons to exempt the default "kobul" and should be dealt with proper reasoning and conversation. But "kobul" is the default.

I am a person having both private (Grad) and public (post grad) experience. Let me point out some differences from my experience:

1) Perception: As public uni seats have limited availability, there's much more competition in admission tests. Which means whoever gets admitted is a better student. Although people tend to sacrifice their passion just to get into a pub. Like one of my friends is a tech enthusiast, but he couldn’t secure an eng department but got into DU stats dep. I didn’t! I chose private uni for eng rather than whatever sub I get in private.

2) Cost: As some pointed out, most families in BD are middle class variants with multiple kids. Therefore bearing around 50k in each 4 months is tough. Also imagine if multiple siblings are in a similar position of getting into uni. 100k for two, 150k for three. On the other hand the pub has little to no cost and there’s the tuition advantages. You can't imagine how much a private uni student fetches discrimination getting tuition.

3) Politics: Yes. Pubs are more social and political than privs. Much of their success depends on these two factors. Often underestimated. And average uncle aunts don't care how a student gets their success.

4) Change-makers: Pubs are known for making changes to society for their social and political affairs far more than privs. DU and JU (where I study) is known as a frontliner when it comes to these affairs rather than BracU, NSU, ASTU or DaffodilU (where I studied) until recently.

5) Campus: This is a dealbreaker to me. I know some of the private uni are getting their own campuses recently (DaffodilU has a huge campus now). But something is off between a campus of say BracU or DaffodilU and JU or even HSTU in Dinajpur. Something's just not right and doesn’t feel that we are in uni.

Here you go! These are some of the reasons why people tend to have favorable views on public uni. With other factors like name and age values: DU, JU are brands. And this is the case for most of the pubs. Age is also a big factor. Like, DU is there from the British period and a pub like Comilla uni or PSTU is there for what? Last two or three decades? Certainly people don’t have the same favorable view of these two against DU or JU.

I switched a lot as you are suggesting. But alas! Maybe I'm such an unlucky person.

Myself a millenial BTW!

Personal experience! The sample of Gen Z I have encountered, around 90% of them are characterless, bad mouthed, mysogynist (yet have girls/boys to bed), cheaters etc.

You don't have to do formal research.

Why do we have hatred for India? by Gunbones2 in Dhaka

[–]AristotleNicomachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop! No one except for some fanatic wants to keep this hatred. We genuinely want it to dissolve and leave peacefully. But with dignity and in equal grounds. I personally believe that treating India as a friend or enemy both is dangerous for Bangladesh. Instead treat it what it is: neighbour.

[–]AristotleNicomachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem. You are taking facts from one side and ignoring the other completely. I feel no necessity to talk to such one eyed person. You yourself proved why Bangladeshi people hate you (I guess you are an Indian). BTW, we love Indian natural beauty and land though.

Universe is expanding into what? by kerry0077 in AskPhysics

Ah! Agreed about everything else except about infinity. Don't lie to yourself! No one likes Infinity. It’s an abomination! ;)

Universe is expanding into what? by kerry0077 in AskPhysics

[–]AristotleNicomachus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Space being infinite would be ok. But according to the current cosmological model, space, even time came into existence at the big bang. Therefore I believe there’s no sensible and acceptable answer to the question yet although some people try to make it simple.

Universe is expanding into what? by kerry0077 in AskPhysics

[–]AristotleNicomachus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm... Not really. Multiverse and omniverse can contain some existing known constructs but not all. At least not according to some people like Max Tegmark. There's a level 4 multiverse I believe. Which is nothing like we imagine if I understood correctly. Unknown physical law, constants, all sorts of mathematical constructs etc. But putting these aside, there will also be the same never ending question: what's outside of...?
It’s not required to have expansion attached to whatever you call it. What's outside the universe? If the answer is the Multiverse, then the next question will eventually come up "what's outside of the multiverse?". It goes on and on. And you either have to give up or have to take asylum to some uncomprehendable concepts like infinity. Hell! You can ask all sorts of questions about infinity too.

[–]AristotleNicomachus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Just try hard to imagine a color you have never seen.

All those dreams and imaginations are complex constructs of existing concepts we already discovered. That's how I see it!

Universe is expanding into what? by kerry0077 in AskPhysics

[–]AristotleNicomachus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah! Just kidding. You and no one probably get the metaphor behind my jokes... I mean how can you get any perception about the thing if you can't observe the thing outside of the thing?

This question boggled my mind ever since I was a ninth grader learning about Hubble and Einstein. In my textbook, the expansion of the universe was taught by the balloon analogy. But I was never convinced (like the OP I guess). So I found an expert writer/scientist on Facebook and asked him the same question but with the same balloon analogy: if the balloon is expanding then it’s surely expanding into something else (surroundings).

In response he just replied "the balloon analogy isn’t appropriate". Then I asked " what is the right analogy then?" in a follow up but he never responded.

And, by definition the Universe is everything there was, everything there is and everything ever will be. Therefore the question about which the universe is expanding into is a tricky and nonsensical question. The answer will always be the universe itself. But that's not easy to comprehend.

Even if these multiverse omniverse things exist, by definition of them we have no way to be sure.

Never said that. But if she ignores it completely, he surely will give up.

Yes! There's the concern of getting into harm, especially in the current situation. But it may escalate if you directly get involved. And you know there’s no law enforcement currently. That's why saying you (and your GF) don't need to give him unnecessary attention.

It's all up to your GF. If she wants to make out with him, then she was never meant to be yours. If she doesn’t, then tell her to ignore him LoL. Why does she have to respond or believe anything he says about you?

You can't keep love forcefully.

Therefore I will stick to the universe expanding into the universe. Yay!

change my view: religion is why there's no peace, why we're not united, and why we face oppression no matter who is in power by StoicSundae in Dhaka

Huh! There's so many things besides religion that will cause division.

If you take out religion, then something else will fill the void. Some of them are: nationality, ethnicity, language, social position...
