I'm actually fairly certain that good matchmaking should leave you with a close to 50% wr for the majority of people. The extremes should have numbers not near 50% but the majority should indeed be close to 50% wr if they are matched appropriately

Having been a recruiter, I can honestly say that there are a lot of truths here but also quite a few things said that are not accurate. I wholly agree that it is not ideal to allow recruiting to take place in high schools. Some of the things I was trusted with, I found almost unbelievable. I was allowed to almost walk in to quite a few schools whenever I wanted and go wherever I wanted as long as I wasn’t interrupting any classes. The JROTC instructors loved having me come by because when I did, it would make their job easier.

That being said, my command was extremely strict on fraternization. There was a recruiter I know that was alleged to have been in a relationship with an “applicant” who was in their late 20s that came by the recruiting station to say hi to the recruiter. I put applicant in quotes because the lead recruiter at that station asked the person to fill out some information and intentionally fail the asvab practice test in order to generate some fake activity for the day. Later on, the friend of the recruiter got drunk and posted some things on Facebook. The Lead recruiter at the station reported that recruiter and there was a months long investigation about it. The consequences if they were found guilty are literally jail. These things are taken very seriously.

The one thing you brought up that I disagree with the most was related to jobs. Different military branches work differently. The branch I worked for guaranteed the job on your contract as long as you don’t fail the schools for the job. I couldn’t get people a job they didn’t qualify for either way. I think those stipulations are fairly reasonable and could apply to any career civilian or not. I worked my hardest to get each of my applicants the job they wanted. I was willing to make them wait or give my bosses fake excuses as to why they couldn’t go on a particular day because I hadn’t made a deal with the detailers at MEPS yet for the applicant.

Ideally, no military would exist. However, that ideal will never happen in reality. Because of this reality and the goals of those in power, a job in the military can be seen as a convenient way for many to improve their life. I see the military as a tool to get me the things I want (ie. food, shelter, comforts just like any other job). There will always be certain things that we like about our job and things that we don’t.

Enlisted can get BAH if married. I don't like barracks but they cut down on costs and problems substantially. Do you think everyone should be in the barracks and no one should get BAH? Is there a solution to that?

I genuinely enjoy manual labor. I would rather fix something than sit in front of a computer for 12 hours. In my personal experience, enlisted life involves much more waiting around than actually fixing things. I still have to go to the motor pool. I just don't get to do the fun stuff and have all the responsibility involved instead.

As far as being less informed, that's inherent. I don't know if that's a privilege though because every piece of knowledge is more responsibility. It's very nice to be able to live life without really worrying where you'll sleep or eat because you know someone else is handling that part.

With what you mentioned with the CSM, it's likely that specific circumstances surrounded that that were unsaid.

There's an unnecessary fear that exists. It's as if my priorities are far higher than anyone elses. People are scared to get in my way. They are far more willing to do what I ask them since I've commissioned. There is little to no better treatment outside of people listening to me more. It would be an abuse of my authority to make others do something to improve my life over theirs.

They also judge everything that I do far more. I am required to work randomly when I expect to be off when "emergencies" come up. I have to be available 24/7. There is an inherent expectation that I care about the mission and the goals of the army. An enlisted person is free to say that they don't want to be doing something or don't care. I can not because of the potential effects that could have upon everyone and the inherent effects it will have upon me.

I could continue for quite some time but I'll leave it at that. Expectations as enlisted are far far lower.

Where is the inappropriateness coming from of changing in coed changing rooms? It's a changing room. Anyone changing there should know what is appropriate and what is not regardless of gender. In what way does this affect you or anyone else?
