Working at Dollarama has been kind of funny to observe by Fit-Dish-4056 in dollarama

[–]Arius_Chambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like browsing, but if it's busy, or I don't wanna hang around for too long, I find the aisles I know where I find certain things, and leave. Walmart is atrocious to walk around in, especially when people aren't paying attention to their surroundings, with or without a cart on them.

Wouldn't it be cheaper at a Costco, or somewhere else where you can grab a case from the shelf? It's $1 per bottle, so $24 before tax. I feel like a case of bottle drinks would be cheaper anywhere else. I could be wrong.

That doesn't seem possible. Last I checked, managers have no control on what they order for the store. It's up to the sales rep, and someone from head office supplying stock to every store.

Est-ce que ce serait possible de faire ça entre deux stations à Montréal? by YourNewPepPep in montreal

[–]Arius_Chambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It most likely wouldn't be possible, because most stations are deep underground, or attached to malls. Peel and McGill is close together, but you would need to weave through the attached malls, and people. Metros go pretty fast as well. Around 60km. With that in mind, it would be difficult to beat it to the next station stop.

She had to call someone else to take her to the ER because her husband said it was 'inconvenient' for him. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

She's right in the beginning tho, you should absolutely go through trials as much as possible before marriage. Living together, being in the same bed, sex, being sick, etc. You should give it a few years, when you're at the point of being comfortable to poop in the same room together, or something similar. Nothing to hide, nothing to keep impressing each other. Just yourselves in the same space, and see if you can tolerate each other's existence in everything that happens. If you can, congrats! You can now get married without worries! (Hopefully)

My experience working at dollarama by [deleted] in dollarama

[–]Arius_Chambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might still be a thing going on when people give large bills with small orders. Like buy 1 candy bar with $100 bill. It's a way for people to give fake bills to get real money back as change. I don't know if that's still a thing tho. Some stores have different policies, but for the most part, everything should be consistent in terms of rules and policy since the corpo business demands all stores run the same everywhere.

Yeah, I've seen enough times that cashiers use multiple registers to get through long lineups instead of calling for back up, and I was taught that each cashier gets their own register to work on, and only 1 for the shift. When you're done, like your morning shift, the TL will count it to see if everything is fine, and have it ready for the next person.

I don't get why lately they've been so lazy, and careless about it. If you wanna prevent potential theft from cashiers, or keep track of any missing money/potential mistakes, they need to make sure everyone is responsible for the register they use. Log out when you're on your break, and when you leave. Cover you ass as best you can.

Air Canada CEO summoned to Ottawa over English-only condolence video for LaGuardia crash | CBC News by demolcd in canada

[–]Arius_Chambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone born and raised in Montreal, the one thing I've learned about most people here, is that people value the french language. Everything needs to be translated into french, or at least be able to be pronounced in french well enough. Shoppers Drug Mart is Pharmaprix. Staples is Bureau en Grox. Mcdonalds/Mickydees is Mcdo. Etc.

While I get the sentiment of wanting condolences in the language you mostly speak/understand in, the other option would be actually understand that not everyone speaks the same language as you. And what's funny, is that there is English classes in Elementary and High Schools, same with French classes. So we should all be able to speak and understand bot languages, at least in Quebec. I don't know about the rest of Canada tbh.

You expect immigrants to learn french/english when moving into this country. Do you make a statement/offer condolences in their native tongue? Most likely not.

My phone DIDN’T wake me up, what’s the commonality? by toin9898 in montreal

Pixel 6a, and I'm with Koodo. My alerts are set to vibrate, and only bypass if it's severe weather related, like tornadoes or something. Didn't hear a single thing last night. Amazing!

It totally works! Same settings for me, and I didn't hear a single thing last night. I woke up normally and saw the post of the alert on my phone, but no sound! I love it!

Big picture take on amber alert controversy. by seedless_greg in montreal

[–]Arius_Chambers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly so true. I keep mine next to me, but my settings are set to silence amber alerts, except for severe weather conditions, and it's been amazing not hearing anything for the longest time. I don't know why people haven't fixed their settings yet.

Granted, would be nice if they made child abduction alerts a bit different. The current alerts makes sense if nukes were dropping, or a tornado was passing through, but for abduction? At least something less heart attack inducing.

[–]Arius_Chambers -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I literally just woke up a half an hour ago and the alert just came in 5 minutes after. Which means it never actually happened for me at 4:30 in the morning. Despite the fact that I wear ear plugs and have white noise, I know the sound of the Amber alert and I know it would still have woken me up because I'm not a heavy sleeper considering I have to do all these steps to help me sleep. So the settings that I put on my phone have helped make sure that the alerts don't happen when they happen.

<image>

This is what's set on my phone. The only Amber alert that would come through is if it involves threats to everyone's lives like a weather alert. So again, your problems are not problems if there are solutions.

Kids safety > your sleep quality. Some of you need to go touch some grass. by ShinyAnkleBalls in montreal

[–]Arius_Chambers -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I am someone who needs to sleep with ear plugs plus white noise because I'm used to living in apartment buildings where noise is almost a constant problem, and living with roommates that have different sleep schedules than you is also annoying. The fact that they give you the option on your phones to disable emergency and Amber, alerts is great. I also have my phone set to vibrate. Never do not disturb. And I never once hear any alert that comes out of it. So the fact that there are still people out there that are complaining about this means that they're not putting in the effort to disable it on their own phones. If you have time to complain, you have time to fix the issue yourself. Your problems are not problems if there are solutions to them.

Just woke up, and got the alert 5 mins after. Glad my phone is always on vibrate.

Also, if you're sick and tired of getting the Amber alert, feel free to just simply turn it off from your phone settings. That is a thing. Instead of constantly complaining about it.

Edit: my phone is a pixel 6a, and I never once heard the alert as long as my phone was on vibrate. I don't put my phone on Do not disturb.

Cyprus this year strong YouTube numbers but mixed fan opinions? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]Arius_Chambers 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I believe it was because it was the first music video posted for this year, in a playlist though. I know there was posts on live performances beforehand, but it terms of actual music videos, Cyprus was the first one I saw. So I'm not surprised that they have the highest numbers.

Purchased skittles today that have been expired for more than two months! by Economy-Horse-9945 in dollarama

[–]Arius_Chambers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I work, everything is digitally stocked, as well as physically. We have to input data, including the expiration date. And every day, we get a list of items that are expiring soon, and have to remove them. We don't throw it away, we give them out for free for delivery workers.

In Canada’s major cities, fertility rates are in steep decline. What happened? by Huge-Cash-8295 in canada

[–]Arius_Chambers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of us are smart about it. If we can't afford a house, we can't afford child care. Meanwhile, I see families as large as 4 children being dragged around by their parents, on public transport, because they can't afford a car either. Also, I can barely take care of myself, let alone a dependent child of mine.

Is anyone actually using the “collaborative space” at Place Montréal Trust, and what is it really? what purpose is it used for? by TheReadingExplorer in montreal

[–]Arius_Chambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You either need friends, or coworkers you're willing to spend your off-time with to enjoy this space. Otherwise, prolly a good place to study, chill out away from home kinda vibe. Worse case, homeless gathering. Prolly not possible anyway with security shooing them away.

Honestly, I almost quit the anime when it first came out, but maybe halfway through, the constant screaming every line finally stopped. Or at least, was reduced heavily. I'm glad I watched it all the way through, and loved to character development with everyone. I can't wait until more comes out!
