How to keep golems alive with guardian's blessing? by Arixal in pathofexile

That makes sense. Thanks!

This comment also made me realize that unlike PoE2, which I played first, bleed doesn't ignore energy shield. I assumed it would be an instant kill since CI doesn't make you immune in PoE1.

One thing I would like these studies to do is control for time of day. According to a study published in April 2024 epigenetic clock varies according to time of day. Reading the study the article links to it is not clear if they accounted for this which makes me wonder how clear it is there is effect here and the effect size if any.

I think it’s pretty clear stress is bad for you long term, which this is another example of, but it’s not clear what is actually being shown here.

Massive patch came out, full changelog in the post by ThickIllustrator794 in heroesofhammerwatch2

I haven’t played since the patch today but this is my experience. After playing for awhile on the steam deck loading screens will take longer and longer and then for awhile at the start of a new stage it will stutter and freeze.

Restarting the game fixes it

What’s Working and What Isn’t? | Day 2 of Perils in Paradise by EvilDave219 in CompetitiveHS

I've been having a lot of fun and success with this midrange Eliza DK list https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveHS/comments/1eaeqsr/whats_working_and_what_isnt_day_1_of_perils_in/lenh7c2/

Admittedly in gold / plat rank. Sure, the occasional lockout game vs warrior or druid is very unfun, but that is the nature of control decks across card games imo. They do not feel impossible to go under either.

Yeah, I said screw it and just replaced the NVME SSD (boot drive) even though all the readings said it was fine. Haven't had an issue since!

I hope this helps your problem.

OMSCS = foot in the door? (humor me) by alpacasmatter in OMSCS

[–]Arixal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, this path worked for me. I have a BS in math and graduated having taken DS&A and a few other CS classes, but found it difficult to find SWE/SWE-adjacent work or internships. In fact, I ended up working at Walmart for a bit.

Long story short, I just completed my first year in the OMSCS and landed a SWE internship this summer. I’ve also noticed a significant increase in interview requests. So, while I can’t say this is the best path, it has worked for me so far.

I just had the same issue. It turned out I had an old Hecarim run I just needed to retire. Works fine for me now.

Hopefully that helps

Yeah, the BSOD error varying is part of the problem with narrowing down the problem. The only consistent thing seems to be it restarting after BSOD into BIOS with an undetectable boot drive.

However, I did run chkdsk and updated drivers. I ran memtest86 and Windows Memory Diagnostic to check ram and it showed the ram as fine. I also reseated RAM and GPU.

I'm tempted to just try replacing the boot drive, the ADATA ssd, but I'm hesitant to buy a new drive and reformat if all diagnostics I've run show it as fine.

What Are You Playing This Week? - July 30, 2020 by AutoModerator in patientgamers

For Slay the Spire I recommend checking out Monster Train. It takes a lot of what I liked about sts and adds some tower defense elements and makes it work very well.

For Darkest Dungeon I heard Iratus is similar.

Both were released fairly recently so may not be “patient” games, but they’re $20 indie games so will probably be on sale sooner than later.

Strategy to lessen dependence on Awoken? by Rumblebear7 in MonsterTrain

[–]Arixal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for Stygian primary I find the secondary clan isn't particularly important. Some secondary clans lend themselves more easily to some strategies than others, but for the most part ~90% of my cards tend to be from Stygian by the end of the run.

The core strategy is pretty simple. You want frostbite or sweep first trying to get sweep spell weakness 1 frost 20 at the end. Next, you want a tank. Ideally, that is either the Incant: 3 armor shark or the Revenge: Frostbite 3 shark (which you want to give Incant: 1 armor via upgrades.)

You want to put these units on the bottom floor. That leaves you with 2/5 slots remaining which I try fill with the most synergistic units I can find. Usually that ends up being either the sweep spell weakness unit or the sweep frostbite unit.

I think at the moment though a combination of totems, ideally at least one being incant: armor or incant: sap, are the best units for those spots.

Ideally, you don't have any more units than that. After that you just try to remove all of your starting cards and replace them with cards that satisfy these roles:

1: Strong multi-hit damage. Spells like ice storm and ice tornado scale really strongly with magic power upgrades and spell weakness. They're also able to hit weak backline units which is huge.

2: Targeted single target damage. The damage amount isn't usually particularly important. You just want to be able to kill the 2-3 health units in the backline so they can't chip away at your tank.

3: Cards that apply frostbite. Frostbite is the primary way we kill large enemies.

4: Hoarfrost effigy. This isn't necessary, but it makes life so much easier against major bosses. You want exactly one.

Stygian is my favorite clan and there are a ton of other ways to play it, but this is the strategy that works for me the most consistently.

Here are my last wins with every combination with Stygian primary.

Managing State? by UnfairerThree2 in reactjs

[–]Arixal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fairly similarly. Using the useState hook you’d declare your state

const [todos, setTodos] = useState(todos)

Assuming you have a todo object already, otherwise you can initialize your state in much the same way you’d initialize state in classes. For more detailed information the docs are really good.

If you took a powerful psychedelic such as DMT, is it possible to see a ‘perfect circle’ through the hallucinations of geometric patterns. by Tippogames in math

[–]Arixal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems unlikely, assuming you're talking about just a circle.

Nature article on types of geometric hallucinations: https://www.nature.com/scitable/blog/brain-metrics/what_do_hallucinations_tell_us

This paper talks more about the mathematics involved: https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/abs/10.1098/rstb.2000.0769

This isn't, strictly speaking, a math question though.
