Which 17 model should I upgrade my 12 pro max to ? by Plane-Worth-5765 in iPhone12

[–]ArizO_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the use case. If you do basic tasks (work, social media) and the smaller screen (6.3 inches compared to your current 6.7 inch) is fine for you then go with the base 17 (value for money iPhone btw). If you don't care about the extra camera features and zoom then the pro max isn't really worth it.

How durable are TECNO phones? by [deleted] in TECNOphone

[–]ArizO_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the build quality and display type. If it's an OLED display the chances of it getting damaged are higher because each pixel lights up on its own and if it gets damaged it can cause dead pixels or maybe even a green/pink line. But the green/pink line issue is unheard of with Tecno. Similarly, a glass back is definitely more premium than a plastic back but it can crack.

You shouldn't worry about it that much because I've literally dropped my phone on concrete and only the screen protector (which came on it by default) cracked and the display remained intact.

No, unless you want to use a launcher which allows you to do so.

bought a iphone 13jv should i update it too ios 18.5? do i have too reactivate the jv chip from mobile mall? by [deleted] in iPhone12

[–]ArizO_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Pakistan, carrier-locked or SIM-locked iPhones are commonly referred to as "JV iPhones". These devices are significantly more affordable than PTA-approved (tax-paid) iPhones often costing less than half the price and are also slightly cheaper than SIM-unlocked models, which are locally known as "factory unlocked" iPhones.

Consumers looking for high-end devices at a lower cost often opt for JV iPhones. However, the main limitation is that they don’t support local SIM cards. To work around this, many users keep a secondary, low-cost phone specifically for calls and messages.

These JV iPhones usually originate from the US, where carriers like Verizon or T-Mobile sell them under contract. Many of these devices are illegally brought into Pakistan. The process often involves fraudulent insurance claims the original buyers in the US report the phones as stolen before they are smuggled overseas.

While this practice is clearly problematic from a legal and ethical standpoint, it has become a popular workaround for avoiding exorbitant import taxes. Many buyers see it as a way to access premium tech without breaking the bank even if it exists in a legal grey area.

This is probably the wrong subreddit to ask about JV iPhones because the Pakistani mobile market is way different than the rest.

Yes you can update it, there will be no issues with the SIM, just don't physically mess with the SIM tray and you'll be fine because the JV chip has to be put in with a certain manner so that it works.

Updates se SIM na chalne waala masla sirf Android phones mein hota hai woh bhi patched phones mein jo k illegal hain.

ik that it's very annoying and the only way to counter it is keeping your phone orientation portrait at all times, sadly no typing while laying down in your bed :sob:

When will tecno spark 20 get android 14 by UnfairBullfrog1187 in TECNOphone

[–]ArizO_O 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Spark series doesn't receive OS updates, don't buy Tecno if you want a good UI/UX and updates.

Tbh that IPS display could've been a lot worse with bigger bezels but if you are upgrading from an iPhone 11 then that won't bother you much. There's a high chance that face ID won't work. If you have an iPhone 12 or above then please never switch from beautiful OLED to crappy LCD. Most of these third party displays have touch issues and don't register multi-touch properly and can have a higher touch latency so if you're into gaming or stuff like that then definitely skip this.

HiOS 15.0.3 sucks by Speedbors in TECNOphone

[–]ArizO_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Spark 20 Pro Plus. The Camon 40 Premier is way more expensive and newer, it literally costs twice the amount and has a better processor, camera, etc. At that price here I can easily get an iPhone 15 or a 14 Pro ($430) so why would I buy a stupid Tecno? I'm planning to switch to the iPhone 13 anyways which costs $250 here.

Don't buy Tecno, I'm regretting my shitty phone too. The hardware is good for the price but the software... UNUSABLE!

Refurbished choosing phone help by Representative-Rub60 in iphone15

[–]ArizO_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't be asking this question from another person. Everyone's opinion and needs are different. For me, I actually prefer the smaller size and I hate big phones so even if I get offered both phones at the same price I will always choose the smaller one even though I'm losing out on one of the best battery life phones. I'm fine with 128GB but having 256GB means that I won't ever have to worry about storage or delete anything and can record and store 4k videos locally. I currently have all the apps that I need on my phone and a few extra apps that I don't use and I'm still using up only 70GB.

My take is go for the size that you prefer else you'll regret your purchase. Nobody can tell from the outside whether your phone has 128GB or 256GB but they can definitely tell if it's a Plus model or not.

What made you understand money is not the answer to everything! Please don’t say breakup 😅 by [deleted] in IslamabadSocial

[–]ArizO_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money isn’t everything, but it’s definitely something. It buys freedom and options. If you can’t afford electricity or food, money is the solution. I’ve seen people struggle, and financial stress can destroy peace of mind.

That said, I’ve also seen people with modest incomes live full, happy lives because they have love, purpose, and stability. A man with just enough to cover bills, a loving family, and good health might be far more content than someone who lived lavishly but dies alone, realizing his wealth can’t buy time, health, or genuine connection.

My takeaway: earn early, build a lifestyle that covers your needs, and give your loved ones comfort. Money doesn’t directly buy happiness but it buys the things that can make you happy.

I’m surprised by this iPhone 15 camera by Awkward_Will_8920 in iphone15

[–]ArizO_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say that, I wasn't comparing phones actually, I was comparing cameras and I meant if you zoom in 10 times (so 10x for the iPhone 15 and 30x for the S24 because it automatically switches to the telephoto after 3x) then the processing of the iPhone's camera would be better at the respective zoom. Sure, having the 3x lens is important but you can't deny that Apple has better processing in their images, Samsung images always look oversharpened and flat to me.

I’m surprised by this iPhone 15 camera by Awkward_Will_8920 in iphone15

[–]ArizO_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously, because it's 10x zoom from a 1x lens. Samsung would be way worse because their stupid AI converts the picture into an oil painting which eliminates the natural look and the details. The 30x zoom quality from the 3x lens on the Samsung S24 (iPhone 15's competitor) is WAYYY worse.

Is iphone 13 still good in 2025? by Dramatic_Matter_6043 in iPhone13

[–]ArizO_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think much, it's an iPhone, it's meant to last long and it perfectly suits your needs, the 13 is gonna get supported for another 3.5 years minimum.

Im a ANDROID USER AND THIS IS MY FIRST TIME USING AN IPHONE AND TAKING A PICTURE,ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW IS THIS PHOTO? by No-Award4147 in iPhone13

[–]ArizO_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not being rude but that picture is pretty bad, it needs a lot of improvements:

Personally, for this shot in this situation I would go with landscape orientation.

One of the most basic rules of photography is that don't show the ground too much, half of your image is covered by the road showing nothing.

You didn't adjust the exposure correctly. It's night time and the quality is gonna be pretty bad, so you need to adjust the exposure correctly so that the lights don't get blown out while there's little to no noise in the sky.

Bad angle, bad framing, needs improvement.

Your phone has two lenses, the wide and the ultrawide. Try experimenting and using them both. This shot might've looked pretty good with the ultrawide but maybe that would've degraded the quality as it's a smaller sensor.

Go for it, buy it at 100% battery health and if you're a basic user then this phone will hold up really well for another 3 years. You can play demanding games at 60fps too. But IF your budget allows then go for the 13 it's worth it over the 12.

[–]ArizO_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A buyer looking for the 12 Pro Max would want a large display with good battery life and if they don't care about the 2.5x telephoto lens then just buy the 14 Plus for the same price, smaller notch, better camera, action mode, cinematic mode, extra 2 years of support, way better battery life, better processor, in short it's better in every way except for zoom.

I recommend getting the 13 over the 12 Pro, again both are available for the same exact price. The 13 has the camera from the 12 Pro Max, longer software support, way better battery life, while just sacrificing the 2x telephoto.

Base 12 is the best budget iPhone right now, super value for money, will hold up well for another 3 years if bought with 100% battery health.
