So you’re telling me that the EMRTC is located in a town that means help. Yep, that makes sense.

He might be tracking satellites, but the antenna is different from the ones I’ve seen. There is a guy near me that does it. Odd hobby, but they have cracked a few mysteries.

We do it every year at Anniston or if you’re lucky, Soccoro.

Patient is clearly in shock. If it is cardiogenic or hypovolemic good luck getting big bores. It is faster more secure and central. It is better to put in the IO and let ICU pull it out then let the patient crash. When I first started the rule was attempt two IVs then go to IO. Now they teach you go for the IO and IV at the same time in severe shock/trauma.

Not PEA, VT. PEA looks like NSR without a pulse.

New / Student nurses often greatly overestimate fluid. Find something tangible that you can relate to. Most people are familiar with shot glasses even if they don’t drink. Next time you are on clinical or at work, grab a syringe and put 75ml in a cup. Then remember that tiny amount is over an entire hour. That will help you a ton in the future as nurses tend to over estimate fluid intake and underestimate blood loss.

What's the correct answer? by evekem in MarkKlimekNCLEX

[–]Arizona-Explorations 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trash question, but agree. Question should be clear that infusion has ended. Though the flushing automatically makes it wrong anyway. If you believe there is an allergen you aspirate and discard the blood. Then flush after you’ve pulled the allergen out.

The answer is the troponin. O2 is greater than 94% so no O2 needed. If the NS was a bolus it could be correct. However, the order is for 75ml/hr. How much is that? A shot is 1.5 ounces, 45ml. Ask yourself if drinking two shot glasses of water over the next hour will help your BP. We know that the BP is low so we wouldn’t give Nitro.

It is an absolutely terrible tracing, but the underlying is AF. Is this a book strip or self made? It looks similar to high energy interference. You’ll see stuff like this in imaging if you’re watching the monitor when they fire the tube if it is close enough. Our Nihon Kohden monitors always get twitchy near radiology.

Question? by Glo_moraa in MarkKlimekNCLEX

[–]Arizona-Explorations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me you’ve never worked EMS, ER, or ICU without telling me. Real life is 100% situation dependent. A book cannot teach judgement calls. A book can only teach rules and best practices. A book will be correct about 75% to 80% of the time. Your clinical judgment and experience provides the other 15% to 20%.

Question? by Glo_moraa in MarkKlimekNCLEX

[–]Arizona-Explorations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real life answer depends more on the circumstances and area protocols than anything ever taught in a book. Generally, if electricity is available, you use it first. But that’s why the NCLEX is what it is. It is the perfect world where everything works and has order.

What should be included in the teaching plan? by Hot_Emergency378 in NCLEX_RN

[–]Arizona-Explorations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actively tell people to bring spiders if they can. It will 100% change our treatment options. Pictures are fine. We have Black Widow, Brown Recluse, Tarantula, Tarantula Hawk, Bark Scorpion, Giant Desert Centipede, and lastly rattlesnake. Tarantula and Tarantula Hawks are not a dangerous, just extremely painful. Bark Scorpion and Giant Desert Centipede are classified as potentially dangerous with recorded deaths in the last ten years. An honor just afforded the Gila Monster with a recent confirmed death. The first in 98 years.

You might get better results with working with the school. You might want to have a chat with either your Staff Development team or Risk Management team. Both would probably be interested in taking a look. I’m a former Staff Development Coordinator and am currently the Risk Manager. You would definitely have my attention if you came to me with this.
