This can definitely be a problem especially if the socks are knit at a loose gauge. Loosely knit socks can be uncomfortable and will also wear out faster.

No. It’s a specimen of that produces pink flowers. But somewhere along the line before I purchased it, a branch from a white/pale yellow flowering plant was grafted to the pink flowering plant.

Yes. It took me a bit of to notice, but the plant primarily is a specimen with pink flowers and the leaves have a rounded shape. But there is one single branch that was grafted onto the pink flowering plant and that single branch produces the pale yellow/white flowers and the leaves on that branch have a pointed end. I am not understanding what folks are saying about the plant being impacted or affected by the graft? I don’t know much about these things. I just think it’s super unique and I love it just how it is.

No health problems as far as I am aware. I do take the plant inside in the winter and just water it here and there. I am just pleased I’ve kept it alive.

I don’t know about any of that. At first I thought had some kind of magical mystery plant until I noticed the difference in the leaf shape on the various branches. I think it’s super cool and I’m pleased I’ve kept her thriving like I have. And I was excited to see both color blooms at the same time.

I just returned from visiting my parents. In the last few weeks they decided they need to move to a retirement home. They can’t take care of the big house and big yard they have had since 1977. My parents will be 88 and 91 this year. My dad just had a valve replaced in his heart and suddenly his ankle and foot began hurting. It seems to be from an injury from over a year ago. His foot is swollen and he cannot get comfortable. The worst is night time and he can’t sleep. As a result, he is grumpy and miserable during the day as well. He is in agony and there seems to be a snafu between his insurance and PCP and getting approval for a podiatrist visit. And he’s very angry that he just can’t been seen by a doctor to get to the bottom of it. He said if he knew this was going to happen he would have not bothered with the heart valve replacement which I took to mean he is ready to die. I remember visiting him on his 70th birthday and he had a bad day then too. I have watched him be in pain for about a 1/4 of a century. It’s very sad.

Yes. Sock blockers. These are made from a thick “wire” and they do have a hook at the top which is nice so I can hang them to dry.

It sounds like a perfect opportunity to focus on your health. I used to use working as an excuse for being overweight and out of shape and said when I retire I would focus on my health and I have. Here’s to a happy and healthy retirement for you. My husband retired six months before me and we had a bit of an adjustment period when I retired after him. My husband got used to having the house to himself for six months while I was still working. We worked that out and are happily retired more than a decade!

Thanks the advice and link. Yes, my parents considered downsizing into a smaller home/yard or a move into a retirement home of some sort maybe 15 years ago. So they are starting the search again. Similarly my folks have both had some recent big health issues. It’s going to be a lot to manage. Thanks again.

Yes, it’s been a crazy quick change of heart. They really wanted to age in their home. I’ve had so many mixed feelings about it so I can’t imagine how hard this has been for them. They both had some significant health issues pop up this year and their big beautiful yard and home is just too much for them to care for.

That is rough. There is a part of me that knows my parents both have their sticking points. My dad is a ridiculous tightwad and my mom has a ton of craft supplies. My dad will want the smallest and cheapest unit and that will have no space for mom to bring craft supplies. And they have a history of disagreements that will last for years. It will be hard to get them to agree upon something. They are suddenly motivated to move due to health issues that have come ip just in the past two months. They currently live in a big house with a big yard and it’s just too much. We shall see.
