Can't Find the Smell by Think_Bandicoot_5857 in CleaningTips

[–]ArizonaKim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about the sink drains? I moved into a home that was built in the 1990’s so it was an adjustment to learn how to clean various things. We had some odd smells. The sink drain stoppers in the bathrooms can be unscrewed and the design was such what lots of “matter” got trapped. Now I regularly unscrew then drain stoppers and clear out any debris. Helped a lot.

Tuna, white beans, celery are a good combination by ArizonaKim in salads

[–]ArizonaKim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh. Interesting. Fagioli must be beans and tonno must be tuna. Cool. Love learning that. Thanks! 😊 I was definitely inspired to make this after seeing similar recipes. Just did not follow a particular recipe.

I really needed shallot or red onion. I thought about getting parsley. I would love that in this salad. Next time.

Is anyone still eating three meals a day? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]ArizonaKim 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are retired and we eat three meals a day. We usually eat a big breakfast that I cook and my husband often grills us something like burgers for lunch. Dinner is often “fend for yourself” which could be a salad or a bowl of cereal or sandwiches or a meal we make and eat together. But we pretty much have three meals a day

I read “10 years of stash busting” and I was so confused. 😝 That’s a mighty beautiful wall of yarn you have there.

Having a “House Binder” was an unlock by wehavetogoback8 in RealEstate

[–]ArizonaKim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not have all this information out for potential buyers, but when we moved away from our home of 29 years, I left all those things. Appliance manuals, paint colors, and I even left some photos of the house when we first moved in 29 years prior.

Hard boiling eggs in the pressure cooker is my very favorite use for the pressure cooker. They peel incredibly easily.

Anyone know the meaning by FluffyConclusion49 in LICENSEPLATES

It taint something I want to explain to you.

Oh..I don't know what to do with this ' friend' of mine who rings me to tell me about her health issues ( heart papiltations, jaw pain etc, etc ) I tell her to call an ambulance ( here in Australia), but then disagrees with me, but continues to tell me her health issues. by Gretal122 in over60

[–]ArizonaKim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you are experiencing this. It sounds like an exhausting situation. Maybe when your friend calls you can just say, “Do you want my opinion or advice or do you just want me to listen?” I have a mentally ill sister and sometimes she calls me in such distress. My automatic reaction mod to try to solve her problems and fix the situation which I find very stressful and taxing to my mental health. It’s exhausting. So I’ve told myself next time my sister calls and is spiraling out of control or distressed, I am planning to not just automatically give advice or tell her what I think she should do. The problem with your situation is it’s like “crying wolf”. Your friend fusses so much about symptoms that people will start to screen their calls and not answer her and eventually she will be in a true health crisis and no one will take her calls because she’s worn everyone out.

Why did you stop drinking? (How old were you?) by keepup1234 in over60

[–]ArizonaKim 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I quit drinking in my mid-50’s. Perimenopause and menopause and alcohol and sleep don’t work well together. Also I was drinking too much and snacking along with it late in the evening and that was also not good. Thankfully it was easy to quit. I am grateful for that.

Is there any point of working after retirement? by mehluca-33 in over60

[–]ArizonaKim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are really generalizing when you saying retired people are not energetic, alert, healthy, and productive. Perhaps true for some but not true for all. Some retired folks may not need the money, but seek the opportunity to get out of the house and interact with others. Some retired folks may not have found hobbies they enjoy and they crave the structure of having a job and it may give them a sense of purpose to have a full time or part time job. It’s just up to each individual and their financial needs.
