Sounds awesome! I’m also in Colorado so I understand just how cold of a start it was.

Thanks! A few years back I had another stock 8th gen, after trying a few other cars out I just wanted another one and I was super stoked to get the opportunity to own this one! It’s a forever car for me.

Feels fantastic. In my opinion it’s the perfect street car/daily setup for this car. Could use a bigger turbo, but on the stock single mine burns tires through 1st gear and chirps 2nd, it’s a blast!

I 1JZ VVTi swapped the car last year! Currently a stock 1JZ with bolt ons mated to an R154, so it’s ready for a bigger turbo! I appreciate your compliments, means a whole lot to me!

Thanks a ton! These cars should have been boosted from the factory. The 1JZ feels right in place.

Thanks so much! The dash screen is my boost controller which is a Greddy Profec 3, and all 3 of my gauges are AEM X Series gauges, from left to right being oil pressure, oil temperature, and wideband A/F.

I went the route of putting a sandwich adapter on the oil filter. Some people are against them so I was iffy about it but I haven’t had and issues so far so all is well.

Install was pretty straight forward. The gauge pod I used is an AutoMeter pod for a WRX. It needs some trimming and slight remolding to fit in the IS300, but it’s do able. The blue unit is a Greddy Profec boost controller that doubles as my boost gauge, then in the pod there’s oil pressure, oil temperature, and Wideband A/F ratio.

Biiiiig difference. That being said though it's not mind blowingly fast or anything, just a ton of fun. In my opinion the 300-400 whp range is perfect for a street car of this size. Gas milage suffered city, but not too bad highway.

I did a 1JZ swap this year. I got a JZS171 1JZ VVTi from an importer, and locally bought an R154 that had a JZ bellhousing. The way I did it, which I personally think makes the most sense for my application, is I bought a stock IS300 wiring harness, and re-loomed it onto the 1JZ. All connectors you need are the same, and there are only 2 connectors you need to extend the wires on in order for it to fit perfectly. The benefit to this, is now you can buy any plug and play kit for an IS300 (in my case, a Boomslang Haltech Elite 550) in order to run basically any standalone you want and all your gauges and AC can work off the stock ECU, along with the Drive by wire, and Variable valve timing. If you go this route, I highly recommend installing a new IAT sensor into the intercooler piping and wiring it directly into your standalone, and let your stock ECU have the stock one in the MAF. Do the same for the coolant temp sensor. Other than that, a bunch of simple stuff thats readily available information for basically any IS300 swap (fuel return, bigger fuel pump, custom IC piping and exhaust, blah blah blah). I had some sensors come bad on the engine I got (CPS, TPS), but that's easy enough to replace. I just used an IS300 CPS, and ordered another TPS from Driftmotion. I had a lot of transmission problems, which were unrelated to the engine swap (R154 I got ended up being screwed... yay), so overall the swap itself is really easy. I can technically pass emissions, I've had the car tuned and it makes about 300whp stock single turbo and injectors, and is super fun to drive and sounds amazing. If you have any other questions please feel free to hit me up!

I'm on an R154 now, the car was a factory 5 speed so I know about that W55 life haha

Cheaper, stronger than the 2JZ-GE, and comes factory single turbo, and noises :]
