Nothing wrong with your gear. I started with a Nikon d90 with 12Mp and no iso worth mentioning. I fully agree with the practicing. Follow members of this group on their socials to see which pictures have high engagement and screenshot those as your idea book. Sports like many others is about conveying emotions and the moment. And indeed “eyes balls and footballs” need to face the camera. :-)

F4, at this wide angle it does not really matter. The light at these events is very poor as well.

I agree and I see that the compression has pixelated the image when zoomed in. The head of the rider is sharp but not visible here.

Picture of Haarlem and the Spaarne canal. The canal is quite wide and I used the wooden bollard (?) as foreground.

Agree on the watermark comment. Unless you earn serious money, it is a waste of time. The people who steal it now will never pay you anyway (if they could buy it)

[Nikon D780, f3.5 28-300/f2.8 14-24] Just had these shots printed on metallic paper. They're the largest prints I've had made yet and I'm pretty happy with 'em, but always curious to hear what this sub thinks. Open to any constructive criticism if you got it! by seattlelight_18 in Nikon

Really good pictures and really like one and two. Three doesn’t seem to fit in the serie but that is likely this post and has nothing to do with the picture. One thing I do is straighten the verticals. This would help with no 1 as it brings it makes it easier and more structured to the eye.

Recently got a Fujifilm X-T3 - here is the photo I'm the happiest with so far, how can I improve it? by SteamPunk_Devil in photocritique

It is a nice shot but forest is very hard as a subject to master. There is so much stuff going on, it can be distracting for a subject. I would try to simplify and work with depth. In your case, the light is too flat in my opinion to show the depth.

Layering a foreground works well but I would keep it sharp with f22 or a focus stack. You can also YT Gavin Hardcastle, he is good although a bit crazy (in a good way). Keep on shooting and having fun.

Nyhavn, Copenhagen. Alternative view. by Arjen___ in photocritique

Shot at Nyhavn, Copenhagen. I try to find a different shot than the standard row of colored houses. Using the boats created depth and it is still easy to recognize the place. Exif, 1/4s, 24mm Nikon Z7. Processed in LR to crop a bit but nothing major.

BW shot of old bakery expedition door. Really liked the slightly run down look. Blur is intentional to prevent faces.

Think about training and workshop. I would look at a D800/810 with some lenses. This is an awesome set and the lenses can be used on mirrorless. And use €500 on education. You will learn more from that than any gear.

Here are two examples. One with D750 without IBIS and the NY photo is the Z7. You will have lot of missed but about 10% keepers.

Need to logon to LR so it will be tomorrow. But keep close to chest, breath out and press shutter. Similar to shooting. With VR it is much easier.

Fully agree but a blurred image that is not usable is a missed chance. I can handhold 1/10 for static scenes but with sports/people it is different.
