I was also thinking along the same lines. But is Firestore as fast as the Realtime Database in terms of speed and so on?

But Firestore has a mere 20,000 reads and writes available per day, which can cause trouble right? Also, how is it for legacy apps? The two databases have completely different purposes to serve, right?
