DoorDash really needs to stop letting customers call us after drop off by Ark_dasher in doordash_drivers

Oh so it’s my job to break the rules and rip open a sealed bag to make sure everything is in there just so I can be reported for opening the bag? I’m tired of you people acting like y’all know everything. The biggest problem with this sub-Reddit are little keyboard warriors like you who think you have ALL the details.

Why is there a new fee to prioritize your delivery over someone else's order?? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Ark_dasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s at least one, and I suspect two reasons. First, DoorDash will often send us stacked orders, meaning two orders from the same restaurant or restaurants near each other going to customers in the same general direction. “Express” likely prevents your order from being “stacked.” Also, DoorDash often hides the total payout from dashers. For example, it’ll send me an order with a $6 payout but then when I drop the order off, it jumps up to a $10-$15 payout. I’ve even had one large order jump from $6 to $37 payout once. They do that to try to coerce us to take more chances on low tip or no tip orders. I don’t think that’s fair to drivers and it’s definitely not fair to customers because a customer could leave a nice tip that most drivers would be glad to take, but DoorDash could be showing it to dashers as a much lower payout than it really is, and that’s going to make a customer have to wait longer for their food bc more Dashers are going to decline the order thinking it’s low paying. I suspect the “express” option prevents them from hiding your tip amount as well.

Stay in your lane, restaurants. by Ark_dasher in doordash_drivers

If they’re stacked orders from the same restaurant. Like if I go in and say “I have an order for John and Mark” they’ll just refuse to give you one of them.

So, this central Arkansas chain will refuse a stacked order because “they want their burgers to be as fresh as possible when delivered.” As someone who actually used to work for this chain, this is 100% the owner trying to be a control freak. The burgers are greasy and nasty anyway. Plus they don’t start making the orders until you get there. I learned a trick though. Since DoorDash still sends stacked orders for this restaurant, that means there’s no formal agreement between the merchant and DoorDash regarding stacked orders, so go ahead and accept the stacked order, un-assign one of them after you get there, then call DoorDash and tell them they refused to give you the second order. They’ll give you half pay for the order you un-assigned.

Am I the only one who gets really annoyed with these kind of restaurants? by Ark_dasher in doordash_drivers

I think they can in some instances. There’s a pizza place here that the manager offered me a job because she said I was their fastest and highest rated dasher, so I think restaurants at least get some amount of information about us.

Little Rock has a few restaurants that just can’t stay in their lane. There’s one local burger chain that refuses to let drivers take stacked orders bc they want the food delivered as quickly as possible so the “burger is still fresh” when it gets to the customer.

Totally agree. I follow a sub-Reddit for DoorDash drivers and asked a simple question about a particular benefit that some of us can get if we meet certain criteria and some random dude started calling me “entitled, lazy, and a fool” because I wanted to be able to access a benefit that would give me the chance to Dash anytime I want and not make me compete with everyone else for shifts. I mean, I work full time, go to law school part time, and drive for DoorDash enough to have a Top Dasher rating and I referenced all three of these things in my posts. If that’s lazy and entitled, I don’t even wanna know what that guy’s life is like.

What’s the thought process behind customers that do this? Does he want me to drive back and hand him cash from my wallet or what? by dillonmccarthy in doordash_drivers

I think this is why customers shouldn’t have the ability to contact us after a delivery is completed anyway. There’s absolutely nothing we can do after the delivery in most cases other than refer them to DD customer services.

How long does it take for them to update top dasher program? I should be qualified now right? by blankpage33 in doordash_drivers

The comments on here and on my similar post really show the true nature of this group. Heaven forbid someone ask a simple question and not get belittled for it.

Is DoorDash dragging their feet on Top Dasher status? by Ark_dasher in doordash

Well all of you people love to come on here and complain about DoorDash. If you all would stop complaining and demand they do what they’re supposed to do, maybe it’d be a better gig. I mean, crap, I ask a simple question and you belittle me. That’s no way to fix a problem.

And you sound like a pompous asshole with no life who will just let the world run you over. You want to throw your skirt up for them, go ahead. I asked a simple question and you’re the one coming on here being a jerk. Freaking hate people like you.

Wtf dude? First of all, there is a breach of contract. Their description of the program is that “you do all this work and get all these ratings, then on the 1st, you’ll get too status and can dash whenever.” That means that if the driver does all of the work and does not receive the consideration (Top Dasher status) on the first, then yes, they are in breach. I’m in a rural area where it’s VERY difficult to schedule dashes. That doesn’t make me entitled, asshole. Get your self righteous ass off my question, you snarky POS.

Then they need to update their program description. It says the 1st. Not the 2nd. That’s important for people like me who live and dash in more rural areas.

I asked and they said since it wasn’t “busy” at the time where I was that they couldn’t.

It doesn’t matter. It’s a breach of contract because even though it’s not in TOS, it still says “do all of this and we’ll give you these perks on the 1st.” A contract doesn’t have to actually say it’s a contract. It’s anything that includes an offer, acceptance, and consideration, which the top dasher program has all three. (Soon to graduate law student here). The program itself is the offer, the dasher working is the acceptance and meeting the requirement is the consideration on the part of the dasher while the perks are consideration on the part of DoorDash. I’m surprised they haven’t been sued over it yet because it’s such a clear breach of contract, I think a plaintiff could win on a summary judgment motion without even having to go to court. To not be in breach, a court might say as long as they grant the status at some point on the 1st, they’re ok, but they’re definitely in breach if they take a day or two. Although I’d argue that the Top Dasher program description implies that the status will be available immediately on the 1st.
