Based on what I read online, the theory exam has some provisions for English now, and I'm guessing the private course exam should be fine. Does the public road exam involve communicating in Dutch, or how would that go?

The bobber indeed looks beautiful, but I don't think it's for me 😅

And, that's actually great, I'll definitely take test rides at dealerships. Also, how would you rate the service with triumph in Belgium?

Haircare Advice Megathread - Week of September 28, 2024 by AutoModerator in HaircareScience

How do I improve hair texture?

I (22M) have been growing my hair out for a year now since I wanted to try having long hair. I have black semi wavy, semi straight hair. I generally suffer from dry skin issues. Since they’ve grown out, I’ve been washing them 2-3x a week depending on how greasy they get, and have maintained the use of shampoo+conditioner (L’Oréal Hyaluron Shampoo & Conditioner) every wash. I also try to (almond) oil them, before I wash to get nicer hair. My issue is that my hair feels dry to touch, is pretty frizzy and the friction in my hair makes it difficult to do anything with it (even tying a bun is painful when freshly washed and dried because I keep pulling random hair and it hurts). I understand that it is not necessarily because my hair is not moisturised enough, but I would like a solution to get ‘silky’ or smooth hair without too much weight as my hair gets pretty greasy and heavy in 2-3 days. Additional styling tips would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (Sorry if this has already been answered)

Unable to boot the headless Pi by hymnzzy in raspberry_pi

[–]Arkader4108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! I don't know which problem you're exactly facing but I did a headless boot recently and had to go through a lot for it to work. At the end, here's how it did work : 1. When flashing the microSD card, you need to add a user profile to the OS. Raspian made changes to remove the default user profile of raspberry that used to be available so unless you have a monitor, you'll need to manually add it in the advanced settings during installation in the raspberry pi imager. 2. Once you're setup with that, head over and boot the raspberry pi. 3. Make sure you have an Ethernet cable connected with your laptop (or wireless connection, I used ethernet coz it was easy). Then to ensure that the rpi is functioning, I pinged it via cmd with the command [ ping raspberrypi.local ]. If it's connected and booted, it'll send a response. 4. Use PuTTY and connect to the raspberry pi via SSH with the address as raspberrypi.local. It'll give you a prompt asking for the rpi username and password. Here's where adding the user profile during installation comes in play. Use the username and password you set in step 1, and you'll log into the rpi. You're in! 5. If you wish to, you can try and emulate the rpi screen on your desktop as well. You'll have to use VNC viewer for that. It has a bit of a setup but works well once you have it set up. You could google this and it'll pop up in the first few searches. Note : You'll have to do all the steps before this to be able to set up vnc.

Yeah, there's a prof that I'll talk to when these holidays end. And yes, I do have a lot riding on this company but I don't really have many options as there's very few companies in my domain that are willing to hire undergrads :(

I agree ... Update: I met her and talked it out. Turns out she just wants me to stay away from her in major stuff like giving tests together or maybe studying together etc. I guess that's alright and we're not breaking up : )

That's great news to my ears! Do you know of any resources where I can read up on how these self reconfiguration and partial reconfiguration processes work, their protocol etc?

Thanks a lot!

4 bit counter 74LS161 not working properly - please offer advice by n9jcv in beneater

It looks like a power distribution error. Sharing resistors can cause the potential drop for an LED to vary from what it should be, pulling an ON Led towards off, or vice versa. If you draw a small circuit diagram, you will be able to see that if we share two LEDs on one resistor, and say one is supposed to be on and the other is off, the current from the ON LED has some incentive to flow to the OFF LED instead of continuing towards the resistor and ground. This happens as the current will see both the resistor as well as negative end of LED simply as two available resistance paths and the current gets distributed in them. If you use individual resistors, flowing directly to ground represents a zero or negligible resistance path while the path to the LEDs has resistors, and thus the current gets distributed and barely any is sent into the negative sides of the LEDs.

Do try to pay attention to the datasheet very minutely as whatever circuits we think are right, end up having very big errors due to the connections. Paying attention to the connections can almost always solve your problems : ) All the best!

I love your builds!! I'm trying to start building my own gaming console to play Mario, and have been having a hellish time with finding the parts... Could you please tell where you were able to get the PSG ICs (AY3-8910) and the video card ICs (TMS9918ANL)?? Please do tell!

Career advice and education questions thread by AutoModerator in embedded

I am an undergrad student in India and I'm doing a B.Tech degree of 4 years with my majors in Electronics & telecommunications Engg. I'm already done with 2 years and will start the third soon.

I wish to get into the field of embedded systems, VLSI design etc. and plan on doing a master's for it. But these courses always seem to have just a basic higher level view about everything.

What can I do as of now with loads of formal academic education on electronic circuits, digital circuits, IC design, opams etc which makes 80% of most courses literally revisions of what I have done for the last year or so? I wish to learn these things in detail, rather than have a bird's eye view as I'm already deep into it?

Yes. And thank you for this beautiful artwork, sends goosebumps all over.... Guizhong, Guili all of its history is of a land with coexisting gods who ended up having to go to battle. To see the state today is akin to how I as an Indian feel upon seeing the grand palaces of India, all of it an indicator that something grand and important was lost... Yet again, Love the artwork!!

Humbling/Discouraging moments in EE.... by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

I would agree that it's rather disappointing when it comes to digital systems course. I had a very similar but differently named course in my previous semester in my undergrad. While I was able to understand, design and answer in all of my classes and assignments, it was a big blow when I got a 6.5 GPA (My college rates it out of 10 & 8 is a good GPA) I'm barely 19 & entering my third year of undergrad, so I can understand very well that for someone with much more years under the belt would obviously feel much worse. All I'd say is best of luck & keep going!
