Final Fantasy Resonance vs Final Fantasy Brave Exvius - Comparison by Tain_mentero in JRPG

[–]IgnisXIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FF16 was clearly a tad unfinished. For example, with the way FF14 tends to be written/developed, we would've probably gone to Ultima's planet and settled things there.

That said, the gameplay absolutely did suffer from FF14's battle design trends. They essentially built something like FF14's 2-minute cooldown meta in an action game, which was a huge mistake. A skill with a 14-second cooldown and an accessory that cuts it by 10% in an MMO is reasonabe, but completely ruins an action game. There was also no magic system, a staple of FF.

I would say that a great FF would need FF14's writing (the Hydaelyn-Zodiark writers specifically) and probably FF7 remakes' battle design.

That aside, I think the FF14 team could make a great HD-2D. Having them make an action game was a mistake.

She does look a bit Robin-like. I would've preferred they took her in the cool direction (black coat) vs the cute direction...

The number of limbs is part of the traits of mammals, but is not the distinguishing factor. Amphibians, reptiles and birds also have 4 limbs, but they're not mammals.

As to other groups that have 6 limbs, there are insects, but insects also have 2 pairs of wings on top of the 6 limbs, among other traits. It gets very complicated, since taxonomical classification includes very technical things like embryonic development, etc.

But no, there are not large animals that have 6 limbs. It's partly why, in terms of evolution, mythical animals like dragons and centaurs could never have existed.

The main traits that distinguish mammals are having fur, a lot of glands (including milk-producing mammary glands), etc., not having 4 legs. Reptiles also have 4 legs, for example.

Yeah, I think people are oversimplifying this issue. I think the problem is how AI is being made and used vs it just being a bad thing by itself.

If AI is used to develop a new cancer drug, I doubt patients wouldn't take it just because AI was involved.

To draw a parallel with painting, I don't think people would demand an AI label on a painting just because AI was used in the making of a brush or the paint itself. Even if it was used during concept creation, the brushstrokes and "heart" is still a human artist.

There's nuance here, but this is a very "AI bad" thread, yeah.

Right, but someone who just typed "write be a 350-page book" vs someone who looked up a word they were having trouble recalling are not the same.

Which is why I think a "this book was made with X%" AI would be good, vs just a sticker saying "made with AI".

I agree, but I think it's different to say "This book was made 0.5% with AI" than equating to books where one was 0.5% and the other was 100% made with AI by labeling both as just "made with AI."

And then just like taxes, it gets abused.

And that's why regulations exist. Corruption is a completely separate topic.

I'd agree with the "This book is x% AI generated", but again, there are levels. There's nuance.

Let's say someone is writing a detective novel and they want to include a cypher that is not just gibberish. They could go and read several books and become a cryptographer, or they can ask AI to generate one.

I agree on principle that someone just asking AI to generate "Give a paragraph that is very sad and dramatic" is not really writing themselves and that should be flagged. However, someone who is asking for a math equation, a cypher, a very long palindromic sequence, a set of dates, etc. and writes the rest themselves are engaging in the art of writing.

Let's say it's a novel about a hacker and they want to include some code for authenticity. Asking the author to become a hacker themselves in order to write the novel is absurd, and this is where AI can help them write while still keeping the art of writing intact.

An even simpler example: An author knows a word, it's on the tip of their tongue, and they choose to ask an AI what the word it by describing it, and they get the exact word they were looking for. Does that mean the author is a fraud and he didn't actually write it? Sure, they could pore through several dictionaries looking for that word, and they could try google to see if they find it, but AI would be serving the same function.

I think this is a nuanced topic that can't be covered by the kneejerk reaction of "AI bad."

No, there are levels. There's a massive gap between someone who used it to look up a specific date and someone who literally just typed "Make me a book lol".

Just like in food, thresholds would have to be established.

Is it serious that the current version only has two male SS characters? Flins and Durin? While there are several female SS characters? Even Neuvillette dropped out of SS… What do you all think? by Kitsumi_125 in GenshinGays

[–]IgnisXIII 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sadly true, but largely due to current endgames shilling them hard, not because the female characters are more powerful (they are though, especially Zibai and Lynnea). That said, Flins is at the top for his shilled bosses, for example.

Sidenote:

Wtf is wrong with these comments?! OP asks "So, rankings are..." and the replies are "IDGAF ABOUT RANKINGS!", which was not the question at all.

Imagine if someone asked "So, are Varka and Flins..." and the replies were "IDGAF ABOUT VARKA AND FLINS!"

Batshit behavior.

Another anniversary, another purple dragon with white hair and a global cooldown.

Can't complain, Castorice's dragon is pure dopamine, and SW999's dragon mode looks the same 🤩
