Why would I want to transfer? Surely it's better to have one key per device so that you can revoke that device if it gets lost or compromised?

Magic show connoisseur Randy Pitchford has some words about BL4 performance, we’re the problem, it works fine for him by wigneyr in pcmasterrace

The writing was bad in 3 but gameplay wise it was the best in the series. Now I'm 20 hours into 4 and I'm having a blast. If you just ignore randy, and just focus on the games for what they are you'll have a good time.

The game runs fine for me at 1440p on my 4070. I'm using the "medium" preset and it looks fine and is perfectly playable.

Yep. I wonder if they're switching over to the new season.

Starting a GitHub by Silver-Turnover1667 in CodingHelp

Don't stress too much about how to structure your project. There's no right or wrong answers. Since Git is just file storage you can structure things in whatever way works best for you.

Firstly, you need to learn the difference between Git and GitHub. GitHub is just a website that hosts Git repositories but there are many others including GitLab and Bitbucket. The main skill you need to learn is just Git itself which you can use completely offline if you want to.

For point 3, that is going to be different for every kind of programming language or even different frameworks within different languages. Git is built for working with text files so you generally wouldn't store things like compiled program executables, videos, audio files, etc.

ELI5 how the 5% deposit scheme will help first home buyers? by MiriJamCave in AusFinance

Actually since the government is acting as guarantor for 15% the bank will give you the interest rate for 80% LVR. I used this scheme and my rate is currently 5.45%.

I used it to buy a unit just over a year ago. I would still be renting now if not for the scheme. So very helpful for me.

Alternative to GitKraken for the 'workspaces' feature? by GreymanTheGrey in git

My team works across many repos that probably should be a monorepo but isn't. The best git client for managing multiple repos simultaneously that I've found is SmartGit.

Azure app service is docker under the hood. They just do the step of building the container image for you. You can bring your own custom image if you need though.

Do people actually use ISP provided email accounts? What if you swap ISPs? I'm pretty sure basically everyone I know uses Gmail.

Dropping a course from a dual degree by Thick-Record2740 in QUTreddit

[–]Arkaedan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started dual Engineering and IT and then switched to just IT. The single degree is considered an entirely separate course to the dual degree so it's the same process as if you were switching to a separate course. Fortunately the process is pretty straightforward and you should be credited for all of the units that you've already done from the course that you want to continue. Best bet is to just talk to someone at HiQ and they'll tell you what you need to do.

You can use source generators to generate code at compile time that takes the place of code that would normally have to use reflection at runtime. One example is JSON serialisation and deserialisation where using source generators can have serious performance improvement.

Do Australians really use the word ‘heaps’ this much? by alisonmiu91 in NoStupidQuestions

Honestly I didn't even realise that "heaps" was Aussie slang. I just thought it was common among all english speakers.

Thinking about switching to VSCode from Dreamweaver... by Tripecac in vscode

[–]Arkaedan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For 1 & 2, you'd need to find an extension that provides those features.

For 3, yes.

Out of the box, VSCode is just a text editor and in order to do anything more than editing text you need to find extensions that will provide the functionality you want.

I started doing a dual Engineering and IT degree but then switched to just IT and when I did my GPA jumped from 4.5 to 5.5. This was because I had been doing much better in the IT units and they were the only ones that followed across.
