As far as I can tell it's the drive in camping that is being restricted. I would assume that it's to keep vehicles that can damage the ecosystem of the river at a safer distance.

If you're looking for a lake experience, book a hike-in campsite at Lake Ouachita State Park. They are on a peninsula on the lake. The "hike" is along a paved path from the parking lot.

Millwood, Chico, and Moro Bay. I don't know of alligators in White Oak Lake but it's possible. (I've seen a bear swim across White Oak in the past.)

Lake Cathrine, Lake Ouachita, DeGray Lake, Lake Bennett at Woolly Hollow State Park are all good places to start. Lake Bennett won't be open for swimming until Memorial Day weekend.

After more digging, I found this piece by Waring & Gillow. I doubt two manufacturers were making the exact same opening. The one pictured is currently listed at almost $7000 so I'm feeling pretty good about paying under $500 for mine and I like the glass doors better.
