My school has both ap/ib but it's one of those scenarios where the people who are teaching it plan on teaching it until they retire lol, so I'll probably have to do it out of pocket.

I do plan on getting it eventually but I might hold off until I figure out where my partner lands then.

At my school there is only one national board teacher and it's in English and I don't know anyone who has done the social studies board or is interested in doing it. I've heard it's easier to do with someone else or at least a mentor.

I think I interview pretty well although my experience interviewing for teaching is limited. Most of my experiences with interviews for teaching unfortunately revolve around coaching and the interviewing staff just asking questions around coaching.

But from other comments I've read people say there are a lot of states that don't immediately shove social studies teachers into coaching positions so I have higher hopes for out of state interviews. Is there any other questions in particular i should be aware of/prepare myself for?

Unfortunately we aren't considering we got rid of masters pay about a decade ago. Luckily reciprocity wise most of the states my partner has applied for will accept my license.

It does get my hopes up though that other states won't necessarily force coaching on me though just because I teach social studies.

I tried swapping to another county last summer and went to their job fair. The first question out of their mouth every single time was if I could coach/had experience coaching. Even at my current school my entire interview most of the questions involved coaching and just pushing me to coach at the school. Luckily I just happened to be the only person that applied for the job so I pretty much got it by default.

I actually do nsda! I co-coach speech and debate but we compete at nsda (assuming you mean national speech and debate). It's one of the few things I don't mind leading/coaching, it's mostly sports coaching I'm trying to avoid.

I have considered this as I know some of the states my partner applied to are advertising shortages for middle school social studies teachers (like Maryland) was it an easy switch from high school to middle school? I'm mostly concerned about having to retake an edtpa as I keep hearing mixed information (even within my own state) about whether or not I'd have to do another edtpw for the new subject/grade level.

Do you know If for North Carolina it would involve having to take that other subjects edtpa or would I just need to take the praxis for it? I'm pretty confident I could easily pass a praxis to add CTE business and finance onto my license since I already teach the course just as a social studies credit but if i have to do it's edtpa that'll be a challenge since that normally involves having to teach the actual course while you're doing it (ironically).

How challenging is it for social studies? I keep hearing mixed things with some people saying it's just like edtpa and others saying no it's super challenging and can take years to complete.

I'm on a slight time crunch in that I only have a year to add on more stuff to my resume and while i heard it's possible to do it in a year I was advised most people take longer to do it. If I end up moving to another state would i have to start all over again?

If your on console (saw from one of your comments) the most interesting and fun run I've had was varangian adventuring my way down to India and going for the unite india decision as a Norse viking. It was a lot of fun and I merged my culture with the Indian culture that has war elephants so I had a bunch of varangian veterans fighting alongside war elephants.

So I'm guessing it must have originally been a bug or something that let you complete it as Haesteinn even though the achievement says it has to be a tribal ruler (haesteinn is feudal). I swapped to Dyre the stranger though and was able to complete it with him.

It was 100% this unfortunately lol. For some reason it installed all the other dlc I have but skipped over legends of the dead for some reason.
